Abstract: An improved portable work bench includes a structural body, and a platform disposed on the structural body. In addition, the platform includes a cam mechanism for locking the position of the platform along the structural body. Further, the portable work bench may include a plurality of legs for supporting the structural body. The structural body may be tubular and preferably has a square cross-section. Accordingly, the user need only place the platform in any position along the length of the structural body and move the cam mechanism to lock the platform in place. The cam mechanism may include a cam pivotally attached to the platform near the structural body, so that when the user rotates the cam, the cam contacts the structural body, locking the platform. A plate may be disposed between the cam and the structural body. The plate may have a hook portion, which contacts the bottom surface of the structural body.

Abstract: A core barrel has a plurality of pneumatic downhole hammer drills disposed around the perimeter of its working end for drilling piles in the ground for use in foundations, secant piles, and the like. The core barrel includes a slurry port and an air port at its top end for admitting a drilling slurry and pressurized air, which is used in driving the hammer drills and flushing cuttings from an annular kerf during drilling. A plurality of generally parallel plates form the top of the core barrel and define an air channel and a slurry channel for delivering air and slurry to the core barrel wall, where they flow freely or via conduits toward the hammer drills at the working end of the core barrel. The hammer-type core barrel is used to construct piles by first drilling an annular kerf in the ground. Circulating drilling fluid cools the working end of the hammer drills elements and washes cuttings from the kerf during drilling.

Abstract: A motor vehicle has a combustion engine as a primary drive source, generating an engine torque (302) which is transmitted along a power train containing an input shaft (320), a main clutch (308), a gear-shifting transmission (310) with gears (316, 318, 324, 326), shift clutches (328, 330), and an output shaft (322). The power train includes a superimposed additional transmission (312) with a planetary gear device (314), and a secondary drive source in the form of an electric motor/generator with a rotor (342) attached to the ring gear (332) of the planetary gear device (314) and a stator (344) attached to a stationary part of the vehicle. The secondary drive source generates an additional torque (346) to supplement or replace the engine torque (302) as needed, e.g., to eliminate gaps in vehicle traction during gear shifts or to propel the vehicle electrically in stop-and-go traffic. The secondary drive source may also be used in a generator mode, e.g., to recycle energy from decelerating or coasting downhill.

Abstract: An elevator user creates on a user terminal an individual user program, that is adapted to his needs, for operating the elevator. The user terminal can include a keypad for selecting commands and entering values, and a screen for displaying the command sequence. Depending upon authorization, the user can access the entire command set or only certain commands. The user program is transmitted to a terminal of an elevator control by wireless communication and proceeds to a program control which adds to the user program data required for execution and stores it in a memory. A task manager of the control program initiates the execution of the user program by an interpreter that interprets the program step by step. In the case of elevator-specific instructions such as, for example, travel commands or door opening commands, the interpreter calls up an interface that initiates the further execution by an elevator control.

Abstract: An elevator, particularly a friction driven elevator, with a cage guided in an elevator shaft and with a driving motor with associated control cabinet. According to the invention, in case of need and to provide access to the driving motor and/or control cabinet, a closed power unit space is provided which can be temporarily set up in the elevator shaft, whereby the operation of the cage in both portions of the elevator shaft which are situated below or above the temporarily set up power unit space remains unaffected. In the region of the power unit disposed in the shaft, the control cabinet is disposed in the shaft alongside the path on which the cage travels and there is provided at least one plate which, in order to form a negotiable platform and/or a protective roof, can be moved into a horizontal position associated with the control cabinet. Advantageously, in normal operation of the elevator, the plate serves as a cover for the control cabinet and is rotatably articulated on the control cabinet.
