  • Patent number: RE37422
Abstract: An electronic musical instrument, which is configured to simulate one or more instruments, provides a sound source, a display unit and a control portion. Herein, under control of the control portion, the display unit displays the predetermined graphic pattern corresponding to the tone-generation mechanism, i.e., tone-generation algorithm of an instrument to be simulated. The sound source contains a drive portion, a tone-generation portion and a resonance-radiation portion, each of which further contains a digital signal processor (DSP). All of these portions function to create a digitized musical tone signal corresponding to a simulated sound of the instrument by combining operation data outputted from the DSPs. By controlling the display unit, it is possible to arbitrarily vary the contents of the displayed tone-generation algorithm, so that the performer can easily and freely perform a music on this electronic musical instrument.

  • Patent number: RE37426
Abstract: There are disclosed recording/reproducing devices for use with computers and particularly for recording or reproducing desired information on or from recording mediums like floppy disks, the devices being miniaturized and reduced in thickness for adapting themselves to the miniaturized computers of nowadays. The reduction in device thickness involves the use of a small-sized rare earth group magnet and neodymium ferrous boron which have good magnetic properties as rotor magnets of disk and carriage driving motors; or alternatively planar superpositions are avoided when placing the disk driving motor and the carriage or a carriage guide shaft and a circuit board. The thinned recording/reproducing devices contribute to diminishment of a space for accommodating the computer to meet a demand for miniaturization thereof. A plurality of miniaturized recording/reproducing devices of the invention can be set in the existing space for placement.

  • Patent number: 6308336
Abstract: A visor or cap brim is disclosed that prevents the pressure of the wind from blowing the cap off of the user's head. The visor portion is a generally planar surface that is held out away from the front of the cap portion that sits on the user's head. This creates a single large passage between the visor/bill and the cap and the visor/bill is held at such an angle that it acts a “spoiler” to press the hat down more firmly on the user's head in a high wind while at the same time shading the eyes and forehead from the sun. The visor portion of the cap is removably attached to a semi-rigid headband that encircles the base of the main body of the cap. This attachment is accomplished by either a resilient clip or a mortise taper connection at the terminal ends of a pair of arms attached to the visor portion.

  • Patent number: 6308337
Abstract: A sock for managing moisture and reducing friction includes a blend of natural mohair wool fibers and acrylic fibers. Hydrophobic mohair wool wicks moisture away, from the foot of a wearer, and hydrophilic acrylic yarn absorbs moisture wicked from the foot by mohair yarn and holds the moisture away from the skin. As a result, undesirable friction-promoting effects of moisture on a foot are decreased. Mohair wool yarn is disposed on the inner surface of a sock for contact with skin, while acrylic yarn is disposed on the outer surface of the sock away from the skin. A blend of mohair wool and acrylic is placed in areas of a sock likely to have the greatest moisture build-up and the most friction of a foot against the sock and shoe.

  • Patent number: 6308342
Abstract: Men's briefs and lining of the briefs comprising a waistband section, a front section, and a back section, wherein a support belt is connected to the front section. The bottom of the support belt has an arc shape and forms a bag section between the bottom of the tightening position of the scrotum and the upper ends of the wearer's legs. The bag section formed at the bottom of the front section facilitates the supporting and holding of the scrotum. The two ends of the support belt flare up and are connected with the front section and the waistband section to facilitate the stability of the support belt and the supporting force. The support belt itself can be adjusted easily by adjusting the width of the flared mouth of the support belt, the length of the support belt, or the tension of the elastic ribbon. Thus, with adjustment by the wearer, the proper support position and a comfortable supporting force can be attained.

  • Patent number: 6308346
Abstract: An improved electromechanical assembly advances a tubular protective covering around a toilet seat. The covering is stored on a reel, and pulled off from the reel as it is replaced, and the used covering is taken up on a second reel. An activation button exposed through the top of the assembly is depressed to actuate a switch assembly which, in turn, actuates a drive mechanism. By actuating the drive mechanism, the cover is moved through a predetermined distance in such a manner that when it is in the mounted position, the toilet seat body is completely surrounded by the tubular cover. An upper housing portion has an integral pressure blade for exerting a constant downward force on the advancing protective covering. The pressure ensures adequate contact between the covering and a counter shaft assembly which communicates magnetically with internal electronic circuitry.

  • Patent number: 6308356
Abstract: A washing method and apparatus characterized by employment of the electric form of energy in addition to the traditional three forms of energy (kinetic energy, thermal energy, and chemical energy) to do the work of cleaning, thereby reducing the requirement for and dependency on the traditional three forms of energy. Electric charge is employed to do work of cleaning by various physical phenomena. The phenomena include, but are not limited to effecting the physical characteristics of surface chemistry, the physical characteristics of water, and the chemical characteristics of water, Such characteristics include but are not limited to surface tension, agitation, hydrolization, and adhesion. Such effects of the physical or chemical characteristics are temporary, and are not detectable after the washing water is discarded so as to have minimal polluting effect on the environment.

  • Patent number: 6308360
Abstract: A floor care machine realized in the form of a floor polishing machine contains a driven pad, the height of which pad can be adjusted automatically to adjust the application pressure to take the characteristics of the floor into consideration. For this purpose, between the driving element and the driven element, there is a transmission element which forms a torque regulator. For this purpose, the driven element can be rotated with respect to the driving element opposite to the working direction of rotation and can also be displaced axially, whereby the transmission element with a clamping element automatically regulates the displacement and rotation, thereby acting as a torque regulator to regulate the height of the pad with respect to the floor as a function of the torque.
