Abstract: A fibrous insulation media is formed from a non-woven mat of thermoplastic fibers having a mean diameter of less than about 15 microns. Preferably, when used as an acoustical insulation, the media is formed of fibers having a mean diameter of less than about 13 microns; the media has a density of less than about 60 Kg/m3; and the media has a Fraiser air permeability of less than 75 cubic feet per minute per square foot of surface area. The media has first and second major surfaces and a fibrous core with at least one of the major surfaces having an integral skin thereon. The skin is formed by melting fibers at and immediately adjacent the major surface of the mat formed into the media to form a thermoplastic melt layer which is subsequently solidified into a skin on the major surface of the mat. The thermoplastic fibers of the mat are point bonded together at spaced apart locations to increase the integrity of the mat.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a cooling device primarily for cooling integrated circuits or other electronic devices during operation. The cooling device may include a heat sink portion having a plurality of cooling vanes and a heat pipe chamber. Both the cooling vanes and the heat pipe chamber may be integrally formed within the heat sink portion. Because the heat pipe chamber is integrally formed with the cooling vanes, no joints exist between the condensing surface of the heat pipe chamber and the cooling vanes. This, in turn, allows extremely rapid and efficient heat transfer between the heat pipe chamber and the cooling vanes. The cooling device may include extensions of the main heat pipe chamber which project into each of the cooling vanes. In this manner, the condensing surface of the heat pipe chamber is actually moved into the vanes at a position very close to the surface of the vanes where heat transfer into the atmosphere occurs.

Abstract: A device for connecting bus bars of a bus bar system with connectors of a piece of electric installation equipment using connecting pieces, which are cut, angled and/or bent from a rectangular flat material. The cost for different bar elements for the connection can be reduced without a need to surrender adaptation to the transmission of current strenghts of different sizes because the connecting pieces are respectively formed by several identical bar elements which are held, vertically with respect to their width, at a distance from each other which corresponds to a thickness of the flat material. The bar elements are maintained apart by a packaging holder which has alternating spacers and holding plates perpendicular with respect to a broad side of the bar elements. The holding plates delimit receivers for the bar elements on both sides of the packaging holders.

Abstract: The object of the invention is to obtain solder bonding of high reliability in which the heat resisting properties of a circuit substrate and electronic parts are taken into consideration. In order to achieve the object, there are provided semiconductor devices each having solder bumps as external pads, and a circuit substrate bonded to the external pads of each of the semiconductor devices through a solder paste, each of the solder bumps being made of a first lead-free solder, the solder paste being made of a second lead-free solder having a melting point lower than that of the first lead-free solder.

Abstract: A wiring board of the present invention readily controls a power source voltage and unwanted irradiation noises developed across a power source layer and a ground layer over a broad range of frequencies with a simple arrangement. The wiring board has an on-board surface on the surface of a dielectric substrate, on which a semiconductor device or the like is mounted, and a power source layer and a ground layer, which are made of a conductor material principally composed of at least one kind of element selected from Cu, W, and Mo, are provided on the back surface of the dielectric substrate or within the same. The periphery of at least one of low resistance areas of the power source layer and ground layer, respectively is provided with a corresponding high resistance area having a higher sheet resistance than that of the respective low resistance areas.

Abstract: A high density printed wiring board is prepared by applying an essentially solid material into plated through holes such that the metallized layers within the through hole are unaffected by chemical metal etchants. In this manner, lateral surface metallized layers can exclusively be reduced in thickness by use of said chemical agents. These thinned lateral surface metallized layers are ultimately converted into fine pitch, 25 to 40 microns, circuitry, thereby providing high density boards. Since the through hole wall metallization is unaffected by the etching process, excellent electrical connection between the fine line circuitry is obtained. Various printed wiring board embodiments are also presented.

Abstract: In a connecting structure, an end portion (11A) of a FFC (11), including a plurality of parallel conductors (12) held between base films (13 and 14), is joined by soldering to wiring terminal patterns (16) formed on a surface of a wiring board (15). The lower covering film (13), which is to be joined to the wiring terminal patterns (16) at the end portion (11A) of the FFC (11), is removed over a length corresponding to a region of soldering levelers (18) formed respectively on the wiring terminal patterns (16). Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for controlling hydrostatic pressure in drilling fluid in a subsea well. A main pump forces drilling fluid down the drill pipe, out of the end of the drill pipe, and upward in an annulus surrounding the pipe. A rotating drilling head is attached to a wellhead assembly at the sea floor. The drilling head has an inner body rotatably carried in an outer body landed in a bore of a housing. An energizable gripper in a bore of the inner body grips an outer surface of the drill pipe. The drilling head diverts the drilling fluid into a lateral passage in the sidewall of the housing. An auxiliary pump forces seawater through a venturi into a conduit, creating a lower pressure to draw drilling fluid into the conduit to be carried back to the surface vessel. Pressure and flow rate measurements are sent to a control system that modulates the speed of each pump to control hydrostatic pressure.

Abstract: An apparatus and method is provided for substantially continuously drilling and disposing of drill cuttings and dust to minimize airborne contamination while providing protection against overload using enhanced computer control. A drill stem with a bit is used to form the drill hole. A flushing mechanism utilizes vacuum or pressurized water to create a bailing fluid flow for flushing the cuttings and dust from the drill hole for disposal. A transducer monitors at least one first parameter of the bailing fluid flow, and a sensor may also monitor at least one second parameter of a flow of a driving fluid under pressure for feeding the drill stem and bit into the earth. A controller is utilized to regulate the rate of feed and/or driving of the stem and bit dependent on the levels of the parameters being monitored.
