Abstract: A system and an apparatus and method for detecting and discriminating articles that are within a predetermined range of a specification into lots. A counting head assembly includes at least an article detecting unit located above diverting gates which control the passage and/or accumulation of articles in adjacent channels to permit filling of article containers with predetermined article portions as containers are placed beneath, and removed from, the assembly outlet. A plurality of such assemblies may be combined to provide high speed continuous container filling operations, for example by location of a plurality of counting head assemblies about the periphery of a rotating carousel or on a linear platform which moves containers beneath the assemblies for simultaneous filling of groups of containers.

Abstract: A dust collecting unit for a vacuum cleaner is provided. The dust collecting unit includes a filter assembly for filtering foreign objects coupled to a dust collecting cover which covers a dust collecting canister (320). The dust collecting canister receives and air foreign object mixture and accumulates the foreign objects therein. The filter assembly is disposed inside the dust collecting canister and filters out the foreign objects from the mixture. A damper assembly that selectively provides outside air to the inside of the dust collecting cover is positioned within the dust collecting cover. When pressure within the vacuum cleaner is increased due to an excessive amount of foreign objects accumulated in the canister, the damper assembly is activated to allow entry of outside air to relive the internal pressure and avoid a fan motor overload. In this manner, the damper assembly can quickly react to an increase in internal pressure and avoid damage to the fan motor cause by an overload.

Abstract: An exhaust aftertreatment system is provided with a first SCR catalyst, a NOx adsorber-catalyst, and an ammonia-SCR catalyst. The first catalyst is generally a hydrocarbon-SCR catalyst, but can be a carbon monoxide-SCR catalyst or a hydrogen-SCR catalyst. The first catalyst is functional to reduce NOx in lean exhaust using the corresponding reductant. The NOx adsorbant-catalyst is functional to adsorb NOx and to produce ammonia during regeneration. The ammonia SCR catalyst is configured to adsorb ammonia so produced and is functional to subsequently use that ammonia to reduce NOx in lean exhaust. The first SCR catalyst is useful to reduce the frequency with which the NOx adsorber-catalyst needs to be regenerated, and can thereby extends the life of that catalyst. In one embodiment, reductant for the first SCR catalyst is stored during regeneration of the NOx adsorber-catalyst and is used to convert additional NOx in a subsequent lean phase.

Abstract: In an exhaust emission control system for a vehicular internal combustion engine, a particulate filter collects particulate matters in an exhaust gas of the internal combustion engine. A filter regenerator regenerates the particulate filter by burning the particulate matters accumulated in the particulate filter. A filter front clogging detector determines whether a front end portion of the particulate filter is clogged by the particulate matters. A filter regeneration controller that controls the filter regenerator to perform a front regeneration to remove the particulate matters accumulated in the front end portion of the particulate filter when the filter front clogging detector determines that the front end portion of the particulate filter is clogged.

Abstract: The invention relates to a hydrodynamic coupling having a primary blade wheel and a secondary blade wheel. The primary wheel and the secondary wheel together form a working chamber that can be filled with a working medium and are mounted in such a way that they can rotate in relation to each other. A bearing is inserted, at least indirectly, between the primary impeller and the secondary impeller, said bearing absorbing the radial forces and/or axial forces acting between the blade wheels. The inventive hydrodynamic coupling is characterized in that the bearing is constructed as a sliding bearing, a film of bearing fluid subjected to hydrostatic pressure being formed between the bearing components moving in relation to each other during the operation of the hydrodynamic coupling, and the pressure of the bearing fluid is dependent on the pressure of the working medium built up in the working chamber.

Abstract: An improved hydraulic arrangement is provided for a spring support system. The arrangement comprises a hydraulic cylinder, a hydraulic reservoir, a hydraulic fluid feeder, a hydraulic accumulator, a first control valve between the hydraulic cylinder and the accumulator, a second control valve between the hydraulic cylinder and the hydraulic reservoir as well as an automatic shut-off valve and a controller with a lifting position, a lowering position and a neutral position for the hydraulic cylinder. In order to prevent different pressure loads between the accumulator and the hydraulic cylinder, it is suggested to equalize the pressure between the accumulator and the hydraulic cylinder, without impairing the spring support system or the automatic shut-off valve. Accordingly, the accumulator is suitably connected to a non-return valve and to a flow restrictor or orifice.

Abstract: An engine management system uses physically based models to determine the composition and mass of the fresh air/exhaust gas mixture suctioned by an internal combustion engine. The models are closely coupled to each other in a partial manner and are used to simulate the filling of the combustion chamber with the suctioned fresh air/waste gas mixture in order to simulate the flow of the mass of re-circulating exhaust gas, the behavior of the exhaust gas manifold upstream and downstream from a turbine, the storage behavior of the intake manifold, and the behavior of the intake pipe or inlet manifold whereby the fresh air/exhaust gas mixture is fed to the combustion engine from a corresponding mixing point where the suctioned fresh air is mixed with the exhaust gas re-circulated via the exhaust gas re-circulation line. As a result, a plurality of additional state variables can be determined without additional sensors.
