Abstract: A method of making a microelectronic assembly includes providing a conductive metal layer having a first surface and a second surface, and etching the first surface of the conductive metal layer to form conductive protrusions, whereby after the etching step, the second surface of the conductive metal layer defines a substantially flat, continuous surface. The method includes juxtaposing a layer of an insulating material with tips of the conductive protrusions, and pressing the conductive protrusions through the layer of an insulating material so that the tips of the conductive protrusions are accessible at a first surface of the layer of an insulating material. In certain embodiments, the method may include after the pressing step, etching the second surface of the conductive metal layer to form conductive traces that are electrically interconnected with the conductive protrusions.

Abstract: An improved boot for use in ice and snow conditions that combines a flared snowshoe-like secondary sole with integral and selectively deployable crampons. The expanded secondary sole extends approximately ¼? or more down from the primary sole of the boot and includes retractable crampons attached to the expanded sole to increase traction in snow or ice. The expanded sole functions to increase the surface area of the “footprint”, thereby reducing the overall depth of the footprint and making traversing in soft conditions (snow, mud, sand) less fatiguing to the wearer. The crampons may pivot outward from inside pockets in the secondary sole or, alternatively, may slide outward in a stiletto-fashion and/or unfold. The crampons may be individually deployable or simultaneously deployable by a central release button.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for scraping material from the earth. The device has a scraper housing, which may be attached to the front of a bulldozer or other earthmoving vehicle. The scraper housing may generally include a back wall, a first side wall, a second side wall, a center support wall, and a brace. The device may be equipped with a scraper blade attached to an earth transfer plate, the scraper blade attached proximate to the front of the scraper housing. As the scraper housing is urged forward, the scraper blade scrapes material from the earth which, by the force of the material being scraped, is forced along the earth transfer plate. After reaching the end of the earth transfer plate, the material can be deposited onto a scraper conveyor that has a belt extending between the side walls of the housing. The scraper conveyor belt continuously moves material toward an opening in the second wall.
