An upper exposed edge is spaced apart from the lower edge. A given shape is provided to the upper exposed edge such that a variable height is defined between the lower edge and the upper exposed edge along the upper exposed edge.

Abstract: An adjustable cap or headwear intended for cold weather use that includes an ear flap that is movable between a retracted and an extended position to provide additional protection for the ears of the wearer. The adjustable cap or headwear includes a pair of expansion zones formed in the crown portion of the cap that adjust the size of the head opening of the cap such that the cap can be used by wearers having different head sizes. When the ear flap is in the retracted position, the ear flap is positioned along the outer surface of the crown portion to conceal the pair of expansion zones.

Abstract: A ventilated adjustable cap for wearing on a user's head, the cap having a crown and a perimeter band surrounding a circumferential edge of the crown. The perimeter band has a forehead offset, which projects from the remainder of the perimeter band such that the forehead offset generally does not contact the user's forehead. The forehead offset promotes evaporative cooling of the user's head by permitting ambient air to pass between the user's head and the ventilated adjustable cap. The cooling may be further aided by a perforated air passage at the front side of the crown and by one or more water-retentive members. The cap may further have a torsion spring, an elastic band, or both to span at least one edge gap in the circumferential edge of the crown, opposing widening of the edge gap in the direction of the circumferential edge and help to fit the cap snugly on the user's head.

Abstract: A lengthways stretchable elastic band having two edges is provided. The elastic band comprises a plurality of longitudinal elastic yarn segments and at least one elastic thread area, which extends to the two edges of the elastic band. The plurality of longitudinal elastic yarn segments are made of elastic yarns and the elastic thread area is made of elastic threads. The elastic band is formed by connecting the plurality of longitudinal elastic yarn segments together using the elastic thread area. The elastic thread area connects the plurality of longitudinal yarn segments by tying the ends of the elastic threads to the ends of the elastic yarns. As such, when the elastic band is under a force, it can be expanded both lengthways and sideways, thereby obtaining multi-directional extensibility.

Abstract: The present invention is directed toward an apparatus for controlling flying insects about the head of a person and includes a head covering sized and dimensioned to fit upon the head of the person being bothered by flying insects. A card having a bottom surface, a top surface, and an insect trapping surface is removably attached to the head covering and oriented such that the bottom surface is next to the head covering and the top surface that includes the insect trapping surface is facing outward away from the head cover. The insect trapping surface includes an adhesive coating that is sufficiently sticky to adhere insects and moreover, includes a removable covering that protects the adhesive layer prior to use. The present invention also includes at least one covering flap for covering the adhesive coating after use to cover said adhesive surface and any trapped insects on said insect trapping surface.

Abstract: A facemask coupled to a sports helmut such that it will absorb a very high percentage of the impact energy from a ball or other oncoming force. The shock-absorbing facemask attachment assembly includes a housing attached to a helmet. An insert may be coupled to the facemask and the housing such that the insert is pushed further into the housing in response to an applied force. Alternatively, one or more springs may be coupled to the facemask and the housing such that the springs are compressed further toward the housing in response to an applied force. As another alternative, a spring assembly may include at least one spring coupled to the helmet and the housing and at least one spring coupled to the facemask and the housing.

Abstract: A stowable urinal for installation in a vehicle passenger compartment, such as a sleeper compartment of a truck tractor includes a cabinet housing a cleaning fluid reservoir, a pump, a spring-loaded spindle on which hose is wound and a funnel connected to the hose. The funnel is stowed with one face on the outside of the cabinet allowing the funnel to be removed from the cabinet to a position where it is conveniently used by a man to urinate. The hose is attached to a spindle, which is spring loaded and which rotates to wind the hose on the spindle when the funnel is returned to its stowed position on the cabinet. The cleaning fluid reservoir and pump provide for the delivery of cleaning fluid to the stowed funnel for cleaning.

Abstract: A metered water control system inlet tube (24) receiving water conducting water into the interior of the tank to a diverter. A diverter (48) channels the flow to cause mechanical motion responsive to the channeled flow. A control valve (66 and 60), responsive to a mechanical switch, opens and closes access of the water from the inlet tube to the diverter. A mechanical switch (124, 112, and 114), responsive to flow of water from the diverter, closes the control valve automatically when a pre-determinable volume of water flows through the diverter. A discharge tube (20 and 24) receives water from the diverter to discharge the water into the tank. An actuator (158 and 162) linked to a flush arm of the toilet and linked to the mechanical switch causes the switch to open the control valve to allow the ore-determined volume of water to flow into the discharge tube.

Abstract: An apparatus for reducing water consumption of a toilet having a toilet tank with a vertical standpipe through which fluids enter the toilet tank and a fluid escape opening through which fluids escape from the toilet tank. The apparatus includes a rigid liner body adapted for insertion into the toilet tank to reduce the capacity of the toilet tank while improving flow dynamics. The liner body has a bottom and four sidewalls. At least two of the sidewalls converge inwardly toward the bottom. The bottom has a drain passageway adapted to overlie the fluid escape opening in the toilet tank. One the converging sidewalls has a standpipe passageway adapted to accommodate the standpipe of the toilet tank.

Abstract: A structure for installing grate bars in a swimming pool having straight and curved section. The pool has a top gutter formed in concrete. The grate bars follow the concept of being parallel to a pool wall. A multiple of spaced apart elements support elements are placed over the gutter at predetermined intervals and fastened to the top of the concrete. A pre-assembled grid of longitudinal grate bars is placed over the support elements and fastened thereto. The pre-assembled grate bars are held together by lateral stays. In the curved section, individual grate bars placed onto the support elements one by one and are bent into the respective curves of the gutter. the individual grate bars are received between the spaces of the knobs on the support elements and snap fitted therein.

Abstract: Disclosed is a bathtub remote control system for automatically controlling the water level, water temperature and the water discharge from remote distance. The bathtub remote control system includes a bathtub driving portion, a bathtub control portion and a remote control portion. The bathtub driving portion is provided with the supply valve, the discharging valve, the water level sensor and the water temperature regulator. The bathtub control portion produces the bathtub control signals on the basis of the setting signals inputted from the key input portion. The remote control portion, which is connected to the bathtub control portion but independently from the bathtub control portion, can input the setting signals by using the wireless remote controller, the internet and the wire or wireless telephone from the remote distance and receive the detection signals.

First and second end members are provided. Each of the first and second end members has a cylindrical recess with substantially the same inner diameter. The first end member is adapted to be received on the end of the first rod section. The second end member is adapted to be received on the end of the second rod section. An adapter is interposed between the end of the first rod section and the first end member.

Abstract: The present invention provides a drain installation kit adapted to maintain alignment of the center of a sloping floor aperture with the center of a drain throughout the construction process. In a preferred embodiment, the kit includes an upper flange that is rigidly connectable to a drain base and multiple sloping guide bars that are rigidly connectable in a radial fashion to the upper flange. A user can use this preferred embodiment by assembling it, adding cementitious material between the guide bars, and making an upper surface of the cementitious material flush with a top edge of the guide bars. Embodiments of the present invention provide a variety of advantages over conventional drain installation kits. For example, many embodiments provide improved functionality, many embodiments are easier for do-it-yourselfers to use, and many embodiments can be manufactured more efficiently.

Abstract: The aim of the invention is to provide a shower floor element and a shower floor construction, which permit an extremely simple, cost-effective production, in particular in situ and/or a more reliable sealing system in relation to prior art. To achieve this, a waterproof film is applied to the upper face of a support element consisting of a hard expanded plastic with a relatively high density of approximately 100 g per cubic decimetre or more and is sealed to said support element. This enables the pre-fabrication of a shower floor element, so that during the installation in situ a tile covering or other covering can be directly applied to the film. If a suitable material is selected, said film can also be welded to the support element. Preferred connection methods are bonding or welding. Depending on the material, a shrinking or deep drawing process can also optionally be used, or a negative pressure can be produced between the film and the support element, causing the two materials to adhere to one another.

Abstract: A stackable wire core assembly for a bedding foundation which may be nestably stacked with numerous other such assemblies for transportation, thereby avoiding the need to compress and tie the assembly for shipping. The wire core assembly includes corrugated formed support wires having inverted U-shaped channels formed at the bottom of the corrugated formed support wires adapted to be wrapped over and secured to slats of a wooden base frame.

Abstract: The attachable Bed Safety Cushion is a durable cushion that provides safety to a person who may fall out of bed while they are sleeping and is easily removable. The Bed Safety Cushion is placed under the sheet or mattress cover or both, either side and top/bottom of the bed rim and is secured by Velcro or another type of adhesive to the mattress. The bed safety cushion creates a “speed bump” effect and is designed to secure sleeping area for a person so they do not fall out of bed. The bed bump can be removed from mattress adhesive sections by pulling the bumper away from the attached material sections. Abstract: A transferring and holding device and method for holding infants having lifelines, such as IV tubes, monitor wire leads, and ventilator tubes, connected thereto. In one embodiment, the device includes a support surface adapted to hold an infant; a boundary attached to and bolstering the support surface; and at least one securing mechanism adapted to secure the lifelines and to impede the lifelines from being disconnected from the infant. The support surface preferably has openings to enable skin-to-skin contact between the infant and a person holding the infant, and at least a portion of the support surface can be a nonabsorbent, open-weave webbed material. The boundary may include a foam member, and/or a flexible plastic or metal member to provide structural support. The boundary may be removable for separate washing of or replacement of the support surface, and the support surface may include sleeves for insertion of at least a portion of the boundary to facilitate removable attachment thereof.

Abstract: The invention is a head and neck support apparatus comprised of a central portion with three primary sections 1) a shoulder ramp, 2) an inclined Atlanto-Axial support (AXS) section, and 3) a substantially level head support section. The apparatus also has side support portions, in several embodiments, so a user may lay in a lateral position. The AXS section is designed to support the soft tissue between the user's atlanto and axis at 0 to 20 degrees.

The internal collapsible frame includes: a front frame having a horizontal base, opposing sides extending generally vertical from the base and an arched top interconnecting the opposing sides; a rear frame having a horizontal base, opposing sides extending generally vertical from the base and an arched top interconnecting the opposing sides; opposing collapsible side frames having a plurality of hingedly connected framing rods interconnecting the front and rear frame. The cover includes a flexible fabric enclosing the frame and forms a base, opposing side walls, a rear wall, an open front and a domed hood extending between the arched tops of the front frame and the rear frame and along the entire length of the base; whereby the housing is moveable between an erected position and a collapsed position.

Abstract: The invention disclosed herein is a method for treatment of infants at risk for birth-related disabilities. Specifically, this disclosure is directed toward those infants at risk for neuromuscular disabilities caused by premature birth and/or injury during birth. An inflatable collar is affixed around the infant's neck. The infant wearing the aforementioned collar is immersed into a water bath in which the water has been heated to approximately 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. The infant's head is supported by the inflated collar to ensure safe breathing. The infant's torso and extremities are suspended in the warm water bath. The infant is permitted to move in the water bath without being restrained by gravity. By the method disclosed herein, infants at risk for neuromuscular disabilities are permitted to exercise their muscles to develop muscle tone and promote neuromuscular coordination.

Abstract: An angler's utility tool that includes a line cutter and a sharpening stone has been developed to facilitate hook and lure exchanges. The angler's tool includes a first planar member, a second planar member, a lever arm, and a sharpening stone. The first planar member has a first end and a second end with the first end of the first planar member terminating into a first jaw. The second planar member has a first end and a second end with the first end of the second planar member terminating into a second jaw. The second ends of the first and the second planar members are joined to one another. A fulcrum pin extends through the first ends of the first and the second planar members. The lever arm is pivotally and rotationally mounted to the fulcrum pin, and the sharpening stone is mounted to the covering layer covering the portion of the second planar member. The sharpening stone may include a groove in a longitudinal edge to enable hook point sharpening.

Abstract: A multipurpose tool is provided that includes a carabiner and that is designed to fold into a closed position that is relatively compact. As such, the carabiner of the multipurpose tool can be utilized to secure the multipurpose tool to a user, such as to a belt loop or the like, while permitting the multipurpose tool to be folded into a compact form. A handle that includes a carabiner and that can be utilized by such a multipurpose tool as well as a method of forming the handle are also provided. Still further, a multipurpose tool is provided that includes a handle defining a pocket for storing at least one bit in instances in which the bit is not engaged by the bit driver, thereby reducing the likelihood that the bit will be lost or otherwise separated from the multipurpose tool.

The first substantially flat elongated member comprises a socket within one end, a wrench within the opposite end, and a keyway and at least one through hole within the middle portion. The second substantially flat elongated member comprises a wrench within one end, a screwdriver bit on the opposite end, and a rivet and at least one through hole within the middle portion. The two substantially flat elongated members may interlock together via the keyway and rivet mechanism for compact and flat storage. When interlocked, the chain may be inserted through adjacent through holes to prevent separation of the two substantially flat elongated members.

As a result, it possible to treat shrink-endangered batches of washing despite mechanical loading by virtue of the small amount of movement of the washing drum, such that the washing can be evenly moistened with the optimum amount of water or lye, thereby optimizing the washing process for shrink-endangered batches of washing, wherein movement occurs exclusively in one direction of rotation of said drum.

The chemical treatment imparts durable colorfastness, softness, wrinkle resistance, and reduced drying time to substrates treated therewith.

One part of the bridge section, during the transportation thereof, rests a downwardly directed roadway surface on the lifting frame and is locked thereto, while the other part of the bridge section during the transportation thereof rests with an upwardly directed roadway surface on the first part. A lowering frame is fixed to the lifting frame so as to be displaceable beyond its free end and the other part of the bridge section is provided in the vicinity of its free end with outwardly pivotably mounted, length-adjustable trestle legs.

Abstract: A device designed for simplified pre cleaning of instruments used in the medical and dental fields. The device consists of a container housing multiple abrasion elements suspended within the container in close proximity to each other and cleaning fluid. When an instrument is pushed into the abrasion elements it is scrubbed from multiple surfaces, while the cleaning fluid softens and captures debris being removed from the instrument. A motorized version enhances scrubbing action. A lid on the device minimizes the spread of debris around the work station.

Abstract: A convenient ticket scraper is comfortable for use in scraping various surfaces and consists of a main body with a guitar pick shape and an acruate protruding blade. The main body has a banana shaped key ring hole in one end and the acruate protruding blade with the thickness of a coin in the other end. There is an even beveled area covered by rubber on each side of the main body for a thumb and a forefinger. An appealing version of this scraper is also disclosed.

Abstract: A multifunction cleaning device configured to brush, scrub, and squeegee a surface is provided. The cleaning device includes an elongate handle having an axis oriented along a plane. The device also includes a brush coupled to the handle. The brush includes bristles positioned on a side of the plane. A squeegee is coupled to the handle, with the squeegee having a contact edge positioned on an opposite side of the plane. A scrubber is coupled to the handle and adjacent the squeegee. A contact surface of the scrubber is also being positioned on the opposite side of the plane. Products according to the invention may provide any of several benefits, including cleaning corners and preventing damage to surfaces such as painted surfaces in particular inside corners as seen on todays motorcoaches, RV's, large trucks (hood and fenders).

The razor blade 8 is to be housed within the inner housing 4 and can be controlled by a switch 6. To clean a surface, a user activates the razor blade 8 and placing the inner housing 4 on the surface 10 that is to be cleaned. The outer housing 12 is matched up with the inner housing 4 and held together by the magnetic attraction between the magnets 14. A user simply moves the outer housing 12 along the surface 10 and the inner housing 4 will scrape the surface 10 clean by way of the razor blade 8.

A heating wire is affixed at one end to a rubber cover on the wiper blade and at another end to an electrical power source, wherein the electrical power source enables the heating wire to heat the wiper blade. A remote control device can be utilized for selectively activating and deactivating the heating wire in heating the wiper blade. The remote control device, or the wiper assembly or vehicle console itself, can contain utilize a timer device for selectively activating and deactivating the heating wire in heating the wiper blade. Further, the heating wire is positioned externally to an interior or cab of the vehicle, whereby no wiring is required within the interior or cab of the vehicle.

This is accomplished by connecting nearly any make/brand/model of available market leaf blowers to my invention by either inserting the blower discharge tube directly into the attachment, or by means of utilizing a specific manufacturer's adapter fitting, if necessary. Because the attachment carries the entire weight of the blower head, it can be used efficiently, safely and easily by both the very young (as tested by an eight year old boy) and the elderly (as tested by an 81 year old woman).

Abstract: A suction hose for a vacuum cleaner includes a first hose part, a second hose part, and a jacket part. The first hose part is variable in length and includes a hose wall having a coil spring integrated therein, the coil spring being configured to automatically return the first hose part from an extended position to a shortened position. The second hose part is operably connected to the first hose part. The jacket part is configured to receive the first hose part. The jacket part has a length at least equal to a maximum extended length of the first hose part.

Abstract: A bushing is provided for use in an automotive suspension system. The bushing is formed as a monolithic structure having a proximal flange and a distal flange located proximal to a distal end of the bushing. The bushing defines a bore having a contact patch for engagement with an anti-sway bar component of the suspension system. The distal flange of the bushing is provided with radial cut outs to facilitate insertion of the bushing in a mounting flange of the suspension system. The bushing also includes longitudinally extending ribs to align the bushing within the mounting hole during installation.
