Abstract: The present invention discloses microporous aluminophosphate (AlPO4) molecular sieve membranes and methods for making and using the same. The microporous AlPO4 molecular sieve membranes, particularly small pore microporous AlPO-14 and AlPO-18 molecular sieve membranes, are prepared by three different methods, including in-situ crystallization of a layer of AlPO4 molecular sieve crystals on a porous membrane support, coating a layer of polymer-bound AlPO4 molecular sieve crystals on a porous membrane support, and a seeding method by in-situ crystallization of a continuous second layer of AlPO4 molecular sieve crystals on a seed layer of AlPO4 molecular sieve crystals supported on a porous membrane support.

Abstract: An apparatus for producing water and dehumidifying air is described. The apparatus causes moisture in an incoming air stream to combine with seed water to remove moisture from the incoming air stream, and may be used to generate water from air, dehumidify air, cool air, and the like. The ability to generate water from air has global importance as the need for clean water increases each year. The apparatus for producing water and dehumidifying air uses high voltage but extremely low current, allowing for both safe and energy efficient operations. The apparatus for producing water and dehumidifying air uses a vessel containing seed water, a bubbler immersed in the seed water, a high voltage source connected to a lower electrode and an upper electrode connected to the negative side of the high voltage source. An airflow path travels through the apparatus and water molecules are extracted from the air as it passes through the apparatus.

Abstract: A folding table and chair each have an unobtrusive folding mechanism that cannot be easily seen when unfolded for use. Because the folding mechanism is not readily seen, folding tables and chairs of a number of well-known and popular styles can be provided that are suitable for use as everyday home furniture. Folding furniture may be particularly desirable for apartment and condominium dwellers who have limited living space and need to occasionally store bulky furniture to fully use such space. The folding furniture of the invention is also easier to move than traditional furniture, including the hinge of the table, which can also serve as a carrying handle.

Abstract: A table top with a flip mechanism has a frame of two spaced apart legs, each leg having two pivoting wheels, a spine connecting each leg, and a table top hingedly connecting to the spine for rotation off the center of the table. The spine and table top extend upon the longitudinal axis of the invention. The spine has generally two parallel spaced apart members. The table top hingedly connects to one member and rests upon the other member when the table top is flat. Lifting the table from a longitudinal edge opposite the hinges, the table top pivots upon the hinges and rotates about the spine until upright. The upright table is then parallel to the legs and occupies a minimum footprint. Alternatively, the legs have wheels for easy movement of the table.

Abstract: A method for controlling the motion of marine vessel (10) comprises mounting a gyroscope (12) in a gimbal and fixing the gimbal inside the vessel. In one arrangement, a trunnion axis (18) of the gimbal is mounted athwart the vessel (10). Sensors (20) are mounted at various locations on the vessel (10), as well as on the gyroscope (12), to measure the motion of the vessel (10), including motion caused by wave action. Signals from the sensors (20) are processed by a computer that in turn controls a motor to apply a force about the trunnion axis (18) to the gyroscope (12) in a direction that causes the gyroscope (12) to provide a reactive torque urging the vessel (10) to follow the slope of the wave and reduce the motion in the vessel (10). Thus, the method causes the gyroscope to apply reactive force that causes the vessel (10) to follow the slope of the waves acting on the vessel.
