Abstract: A continuous combustion system for an internal combustion engine includes a reaction vessel external to the engine cylinders. The reaction vessel contains a combustion chamber for sustaining continuous combustion of an air fuel mixture during the operation of the associated engine. The reaction vessel contains an incoming air chamber and an exhaust gas chamber that are each in communication with the combustion chamber. Injected fuel vapor is mixed with scavenged exhaust gas for pre-heating and with compressed air from each cylinder provided during the compression stroke of each piston. The compressed air and fuel vapor mixture sustains the ignited combustion continuously, while exhaust gas is fed to the cylinders to provide working fluid to the engine during the power stroke of each piston. A valve mechanism is provided to control the flow of air from and working fluid to the cylinders at the appropriate times in order to sustain operation of the engine.

  • Publication number: 20090183496
Abstract: A throttle unit placed in an exhaust gas passage controls an opening-ratio of each of first and second valve members to control a gas-flow sectional area of the exhaust gas passage. When the temperature of a three-way catalyst is low, the throttle unit introduces the exhaust gas flow into a part of an outer-periphery of the three-way catalyst. This control can rapidly increase the temperature of the three-way catalyst from an early period of starting an internal combustion engine within a short period of time. The throttle unit increases the gas-flow sectional area of the exhaust gas passage according to increasing the temperature of the three-way catalyst. When the three-way catalyst reaches its activation temperature, the throttle unit instructs the first and second valve members to fully open. This decreases a pressure loss of the exhaust gas because the exhaust gas is supplied into the entire of the three-way catalyst.

  • Publication number: 20090183497
Abstract: In a hybrid vehicle equipped with an exhaust gas purifying apparatus, when a gasoline engine stops, an exhaust gas passage is closed by a pair of upstream-side and downstream-side throttle units to form an accommodation space. A pressure reduction unit reduces a pressure of the closed accommodation space where a three way catalyst is placed. The exhaust gas around the three way catalyst in the closed accommodation space does not leak into either an outside atmosphere side or into the gasoline engine side. Reducing the pressure in the closed accommodation space decreases heat conduction through the exhaust gas toward the outside. It is thereby possible to prevent the temperature drop of the three way catalyst and to keep the three way catalyst at a temperature of not less than its activation temperature for a long period of time even if the gasoline engine stops.

Abstract: This invention relates to the field of locks, more specifically to locking up a unicycle. Currently there is not an effective way to lock up a unicycle. Many people do not lock up their unicycles, or they only lock them through the wheel. The wheel is one of the cheapest parts of the unicycle. The most expensive part, the unicycle frame, is not protected. Thieves simply remove the wheel, and take the unicycle frame. My embodiments prevent the theft of the unicycle wheel, and the unicycle frame. My embodiments are economical to produce, and easy to use. My embodiments let a unicycle rider lock up their unicycle anywhere, without concern for theft.
