Abstract: In order to achieve an object of applying easily producible and variable patterns effectively and in widely varying ways, lacquer is applied to a decoration target material (1) comprising a transparent or translucent glass or resin material to form a lacquer layer (3), and thereafter an alcohol agent is mixed into the undried lacquer layer (3) to make the lacquer material flow and to form lacquer patterns (3a, 3b) using the flow behavior of the lacquer, or a crack pattern is formed on, for example, a foil layer (7), thereby to significantly reduce the drying time of the lacquer layer (3), and to suitably form a lacquer pattern comprising a flowing lacquer pattern, a lacquer crack pattern, and a foil crack pattern.

An epoxy resin encases the memory, shot counter device, communication card and battery to protect them from detrimental environmental effects. The life of various component parts of the weapon are tracked against the shot count of the weapon and replaced at appropriate intervals. Weapon maintenance is performed by transferring the weapon's data from the weapon's memory to an operator laptop computer wherein an algorithm analyzes the data and advises the operator to take necessary maintenance steps, such as replacing parts that have reached the end of their useful life.

Abstract: The inventive concept presented is a device which serves to prevent the transit of ants and other crawling insects along a mooring line, rope, or similar structure. The preferred embodiment of the inventive concept is constructed of a three-piece assemblage comprising (1) a base unit having a flanged circular front face with an integral concentric tube (2) a tapered, dome-shaped weather shroud, and (3) an adapter sleeve within internal spikes/ridges for engaging a mooring line. The adapter sleeve is tightened onto the mooring line by indirectly applied manual axial force. The weather shroud is then latched into the base unit. A sticky, insect-repelling substance disposed within a circular cavity on the opposite side of the circular front face plate in the base unit serves to repel and/or prevent crawling insects from traversing the mooring line.

The process includes torrefying biomass material at a temperature between 80° C. to 400° C. to form particulated biomass having a mean average particle size between 1 ?m and 1000 ?m. The particulated biomass is mixed with a liquid hydrocarbon to form a suspension, wherein the suspension includes from 1 weight percent to 40 weight percent particulated biomass. The suspension is fed into a unit selected from the group consisting of a pyrolysis reactor, a fluid catalytic cracking unit, a delayed coker, a fluid coker, a hydroprocessing unit, and a hydrocracking unit, and then at least a portion of the particulated biomass of the suspension is converted into fuel.

The smectite-silica gel mixed phase has at least the following physical parameters: a specific surface area of more than 120 m2/g; a total pore volume of more than 0.35 ml/g; and a silicon content, calculated as SiO2, of at least 60 wt-%. A purified biodiesel is separated off from the adsorbent.

Abstract: Compositions containing unsaturated fatty esters may be stabilized against atmospheric oxidation by the addition of an antioxidant package containing at least one nitroxide free-radical scavenger and at least one alkylalkanolamine. Compositions treated in this manner show good resistance to atmospheric oxidation and resultant viscosity increase. An advantage of the nitroxide free-radical scavenger is that it stops the oxidation of the unsaturated fatty esters already during the initiation stage. Moreover, it is much less volatile than for example the known alkylhydroxylamine oxygen scavengers. By the use of a nitroxide free-radical scavenger, the composition can thus be stabilized for a longer period of time. The stability period is moreover less affected by the supply of oxygen to the composition. The solubility problem of the nitroxide in the fatty ester component can be solved by dissolving the nitroxide first in the alkylalkanolamine.
