Publication number: 20110168123Abstract: An engine valve is provided with a valve head, a cap disposed opposite of the valve head; and a stem interposed between the valve head and the cap. The stem has a cylindrically shaped surface and at least one helical section embedded in the stem. The helical section includes alternating crests and roots in which the roots depend inwardly in a direction of a centerline of the valve such that the surface area of the stem is periodically interrupted by the helical section. The introduction of the valve with helical section in an engine increases engine efficiency and reduces fuel consumption. Methods of making and using the engine valve are also provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 12, 2010Publication date: July 14, 2011Inventor: Jay Carl Kerr

Publication number: 20110168125Abstract: A lubricating oil supply device for an internal combustion engine in which a lubricating oil pump is provided to one end of a balancer shaft, but an oil conduit is not required to be provided to the balancer shaft. The lubricating oil pump is connected to one end of the balancer shaft. An intake oil conduit for directing lubricating oil to the lubricating oil pump is disposed inside a wall thickness of a crankcase. A discharge oil conduit for directing lubricating oil pressurized in the lubricating oil pump to the in-shaft oil conduit is disposed within the wall thickness of the crankcase.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2010Publication date: July 14, 2011Applicant: HONDA MOTOR CO., LTD.Inventors: Tamotsu MOMOSAKI, Toru Kawai

Publication number: 20110168126Abstract: An engine provided with a turbocharger includes a timing chain, a chain case mounted to one end in an axial direction of a crankshaft disposed in the so as to cover the timing chain to define a chain chamber, a turbocharger disposed on one side in a width direction of the engine and driven by an exhaust gas and including a bearing portion, and a lubricating device for lubricating oil within the engine. The lubricating device includes an oil pan disposed below the engine, and an oil drain passage through which the oil lubricating the bearing portion returns to the oil pan. The oil drain passage has an oil drain port which is opened to the chain chamber defined by the one end portion of the axial direction of the crankshaft in the engine and the chain case.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 29, 2010Publication date: July 14, 2011Applicant: SUZUKI MOTOR CORPORATIONInventor: Hiroyuki FUJIKAWA

Publication number: 20110168127Abstract: A rotary apparatus is described having: a vane; a rotor comprising a center, the rotor configured to carry the vane; and a housing, the rotor operatively mounted within the housing. The vane includes: a central vane axis extending longitudinally through the vane along a y-axis, the y-axis comprising a line from the center of the rotor to the housing, and a vane end intersecting the y-axis, the vane end proximate an inner surface of said housing. The vane end of the vane further includes a vane extension protruded radially outward from about the vane end along an x-axis about perpendicular to the y-axis, the vane extension comprising at least one aperture therethrough. During operation of the rotary apparatus, fuel flows through the aperture reducing pressure between a portion of the vane extension and the housing, which facilitates vane sealing to the housing and improves efficiency by reducing engine chatter.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 21, 2011Publication date: July 14, 2011Applicant: Fibonacci International, Inc.Inventor: Merton W. Publication number: 20110168128Abstract: The present application describes systems for water retrieval from the engine exhaust. This collected water can be used both for removing ethanol from ethanol-gasoline blends, and for use as a knock suppressant. The water that is removed from the exhaust can be used as the only source of water or in combination with water that is externally supplied. The present application also describes new means for removal of water from the exhaust that can be employed for applications. In some embodiments, an auto-heat exchanger is employed to recover water from the engine exhaust.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 25, 2010Publication date: July 14, 2011Applicant: ETHANOL BOOSTING SYSTEMS LLCInventors: John Bradley, Leslie Bromberg, Daniel Cohn
