Publication number: 20110174065Abstract: The power of internal combustion engines is conventionally determined on special power-test stands on which all connections, in particular coolant connections, of the engine must be fitted. In particular, if a cold test of the internal combustion engine is carried out beforehand, it is necessary for said internal combustion engine to be dismounted from the cold-test stand and mounted on the power-test stand, which is time-consuming. The invention indirectly predetermines the power of the internal combustion engine during the cold test. In this way, the determination of the power can be carried out on the cold-test stand without the need for a power-test stand or for the internal combustion engine to be mounted thereon.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 28, 2010Publication date: July 21, 2011Applicant: ThyssenKrupp Krause GmbHInventors: Thorsten Lilienkamp, Christian Rohde

Publication number: 20110174066Abstract: An EGR fault in an engine is detected by comparing actual MAP values with inferred MAP values, the latter being based on MAF and engine speed. Multiple pairs of inferred and actual MAP, some having low EGR and other having high EGR rate. The two values are expected to deviate at high EGR rate and to be nearly equal at low EGR rate. If no such deviation at high EGR, then a fault is determined. According to the present disclosure, the computation of inferred MAP includes a compensation for flow into the intake through a carbon canister system. Without such compensation, the EGR routine is applied to situations without flow from the canister. Such a limitation caused a problem in HEV vehicles, in which engine operating time is less than typical engine installations. Additionally, the confounding effects of rapid VVT movement are excluded from the computations.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 3, 2010Publication date: July 21, 2011Applicant: FORD GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES, LLCInventors: Douglas Raymond Martin, Richard Paul Taylor

For the production of the nanowire structural element, a template based process is used preferably, wherein the electrochemical deposition of the nanowires in nanopores is carried out. In this manner, numerous nanowires are created in the template foil. For the electrochemical deposition of the nanowires, a reversed pulse procedure with an alternating sequence consisting of cathodic deposition pulses and anodic counter-pulses is carried out. By this means, segmented nanowires can be produced.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 12, 2009Publication date: July 21, 2011Inventors: Thomas Cornelius, Wolfgang Ensinger, Reinhard Neumann, Markus Rauber

Publication number: 20110174074Abstract: A MEMS device (20) includes a substrate (22), a proof mass (28), and a frame structure (30) laterally spaced apart from the proof mass (28). Compliant members (36) are coupled to the proof mass (28) and the frame structure (30) to retain the proof mass (28) suspended above the surface (26) of the substrate (22) without directly coupling the proof mass (28) to the substrate (22). Anchors (32) suspend the frame structure (30) above the surface (26) of the substrate (22) without directly coupling the structure (30) to the substrate (22), and retain the structure (30) immovable relative to the substrate (22) in a sense direction (42). The compliant members (36) enable movement of the proof mass (28) in the sense direction (42). Movable fingers (38) extending from the proof mass (28) are disposed between fixed fingers (46) extending from the frame structure (30) to form a differential capacitive structure.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 15, 2010Publication date: July 21, 2011Applicant: FREESCALE SEMICONDUCTOR, INC.Inventors: Gary G.
