Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide an inertial filtration system for air-ingesting machines. The inertial filter 100 may comprise a reducer 133 downstream of a vortex generator. The reducer 133 decreases the area that the airstream flows through, which may increase the angular momentum and the centrifugal forces acting on the particles of the ingested airstream. This may increase the cleaning performance and a decrease in the pressure drop across the inertial filter 100. Generally, the inertial filter functions such that flow components of higher density are separated from the rest of the airstream. The higher density flow components are bled out of the inertial filter 100 via an outlet 135. The remaining flow components flow downstream to compressor section 535.

Abstract: A process for the recovery of sulfur from the products resulting from the pyrolysis of sulfur-containing organic materials, comprises the steps of: a) carrying out the combustion of liquid pyrolysis products, thereby to obtain sulfur dioxide in the formed exhaust gases; b) reacting hydrogen sulfide recovered from gases, generated in the pyrolysis process, with said sulfur dioxide; and c) reacting hydrogen sulfide recovered from gases, generated in the gasification of solid pyrolysis products, with said sulfur dioxide, and as a result to obtain elemental sulfur, pure gaseous fuel and exhaust gases from liquid products combustion free from sulfur-containing compounds.

Abstract: In an exhaust gas purification system for an internal combustion engine, a NOx selective reduction catalyst for reducing NOx with ammonia that is adsorbed on the NOx selective reduction catalyst is disposed in an exhaust passage of the engine. In the NOx selective reduction catalyst, ammonia in a first adsorption state that is adsorbed at a low temperature and ammonia in a second adsorption state that is adsorbed at a high temperature are present. Because ammonia, which has been in the first adsorption state and which is desorbed from the NOx selective reduction catalyst, tends to be discharged to the atmosphere, a control section that estimates an adsorption amount of ammonia in the first adsorption state is provided in the exhaust gas purification system for the internal combustion engine in order to control the adsorption amount of ammonia in the first adsorption state within a specified level.

Abstract: Disclosed is a hydraulic drive system for a working machine, which enables to conduct forced regeneration continuously for a sufficient time. Based on an input of a lock detection signal S1 from a gate lock detection switch 40, a controller 50 detects that a gate lock lever 32 for controlling a gate lock on/off valve 33 is in a locked state, in other words, hydraulic actuators such as an arm cylinder 12 arranged on a hydraulic excavator 1 are all in non-operated states. Upon an input of a forced regeneration command signal So from a forced regeneration switch 53 in this detected state, control signals Cp,Cf are outputted to a boosting control valve 51 and regulator 52 to make a forced regeneration means (an arm cylinder control valve 27 and the regulator 52) conduct forced regeneration.

Abstract: A universal control scheme for mobile hydraulic equipment has switches to activate and/or control any number of different tools or accessories that may be used to configure the equipment. Additionally, a single controller command may be reassigned from one set to another set of hydraulic line pairs. Furthermore, at different times, two separate controller commands may be used to control the same hydraulic line pair. The control scheme also provides for consolidating hydraulic line pair functions to separate for dedicated use those line pairs associated with operating hydraulic cylinders to extend or retract a member and those line pairs used to provide hydraulic fluid for operating tools.

Abstract: A tidal energy capture means connects a turbine to its anchor by telescopic members which pivot about the anchor as axis in the plane of the tidal flow and whose combined length depends upon the force of this flow. These members can be locked at prescribed lengths by a remote signal, to control the level of the turbine during this movement. The anchor consists of a plug and socket, with buoyancy means for positioning the plug in the socket, and the telescopic members can be a rotatable shaft which drives equipment in the plug.

Abstract: This invention relates to an actuator (2) comprising material adapted to contract when activated (4) within an inner sleeve assembly (24) contained by an outer sleeve assembly (22) that is cylindrical in shape. The inner sleeve (24) assembly further comprises a slide (16), an overstress spring (14), a sleeve (8), and a rebias spring (12). When the material adapted to contract (4) is activated, the contraction causes a rebias spring (12) to compress and a working end piece (18) moves causing desired movement. When the rebias (spring 12) expands, the actuator (2) returns to its normal resting position. In some embodiments a magnetic latch (44) can be paired with and activated by the actuator (2).

Abstract: The disclosure provides a turbo-charging apparatus for a vehicle engine, which includes a first and second turbocharger, an inter-turbine passage connecting a discharging port of a first turbocharger turbine with an introducing port of a second turbocharger turbine, a bypass passage connecting an introducing passage of the first turbocharger turbine with the inter-turbine passage, and a control valve for opening and closing the bypass passage. The inter-turbine passage extends substantially straight from the discharging port of the first turbocharger turbine toward the second turbocharger when viewed from a direction parallel to turbine shafts of the first and second turbochargers, which are arranged substantially parallel to each other, so that the inter-turbine passage connects with an outer circumferential part of the second turbocharger turbine so as to extend in a direction tangent to an outer circumference direction of the second turbocharger turbine.
