Abstract: In a shock-secure door or hatch arrangement on marine ships, a doorway frame, on two opposite longitudinal edges thereof, has continuous latching bars that are receivable in corresponding grooves in opposite edges of a door in order to latch the door in a closed position. The latching bar on the hinged edge of the doorway frame is stationary and engages into the associated door edge groove during a closing motion of the door. The latching bar on the opposite edge of the doorway frame is movable by actuating elements so as to engage into the respective associated door edge groove for latching the door in its closed position. A locking mechanism locks and unlocks the movable latching bar in its latched position.

Abstract: A barrier for the inside of a home. The barrier includes two partitions that slide relative to each other to increase and decrease a distance between ends of the barrier. The partitions slide into and out of confronting relationships with each other. The partitions engage each other at upper and lower locations and further at a medial location where an elongate member of one partition is received in a tube engaged to the other partition. A threaded piece upon being turned brings pressure to bear upon an end of the tube such that the partitions can be incrementally expanded apart and thereby pressurized between two locations within the home so as to block off one portion of the home. The threaded piece is slideable along the elongate member.

The plastic container further comprises a pressure panel located on the container and moveable between an initial position and an activated position. The pressure panel is located in the initial position prior to filling the container, and is moved to the activated position after filling and sealing the container. Moving the pressure panel from the initial position to the activated position reduces the internal volume of the container and creates a positive pressure inside the container. The positive pressure reinforces the sidewall. A method of processing a container is also disclosed.

Abstract: A stretch wrap applicator includes a member designed to engage the stretch wrap or stretch film as it is dispensed and to deform the stretch wrap by creating additional pockets of stretch on the stretch wrap transverse to its plane. The additional deformations caused by the member engaging the stretch wrap whether done in-line using the applicator or offline using equipment effects an additional stretch of the stretch film during application beyond the typical stretch caused by tension on stretch wrap when being applied to an object.

Abstract: A stretch wrap applicator includes one or more cutting members arranged, for instance, in parallel and designed to engage the stretch wrap to cut it into strips as it is dispensed from the roll. The strips are then gathered and stretched into strings that are wrapped around the object. The strings formed from the stretch wrap can stretch to an extended length while maintaining excellent tensile strength to secure heavy loads. In a further approach, an applicator can selectively gathers or not gather the stretch film in such a way as to create a solid string or a film during continuous application to an object so that the user can rotate from film to string and then back to film. Such approaches save on the volume of stretch wrap used to secure a load without significantly compromising strength.
