Abstract: A bedding product, such as a mattress, mattress topper, or pillow case, includes a flexible gel panel having a cured gel layer with a top surface and a bottom surface, a flexible top layer overlying the top surface of the cured gel layer, and a fabric bottom layer overlying the bottom surface of the cured gel layer. The bedding product has a major surface and the flexible gel panel is integrated into the bedding product so that the flexible top layer of the flexible gel panel is juxtaposed with the major surface of the bedding product. The flexible gel panel is removable from the bedding product for laundering the bedding product.

Abstract: The present invention is an improved air cylinder for air mattresses primarily intended for hospitals, long-term care facilities and in-home use. Each elongated flexible air cylinder contains a foam member with a generally square cross-section and area to enclose a volume of air above the foam member. When one or more air cylinders are connected to a pump and pressure to air cylinders is increased, the area above the foam members enclosed by the flexible air cylinders inflates with air. The volume above the foam member in each flexible air cylinder can retain enough pressure to lift the portion of the patient's body above that air cylinder away from the resilient foam member. The flexible air cylinders may be connected to achieve an alternating pressure cycle where one set of air cylinders may be pressurized while other air cylinders are allowed to evacuate air and become depressurized.

Abstract: An air inflatable mattress and mattress coverlet are provided for the prevention and treatment of decubitus ulcers (i.e., pressure sores or bedsores). The mattress incorporates a user selectable static or alternating air powered support surface for more uniformly redistributing pressure exerted on a patient's skin. The mattress coverlet encompasses a low air loss feature independent of the mattress's user selectable air powered support surface. Such low air loss feature provides a patient contact surface exhibiting a high moisture vapor transfer ratio in conjunction with a forced air flow to aid in reducing the moisture and heat near the patient's body. Both the mattress and mattress coverlet are driven by an external control system which houses the user controls, as well as the necessary pumps, regulators, and valving.

Abstract: A mattress includes top and bottom foam layers. A bottom surface of the top foam layer and a top surface of the bottom foam layer include protrusions and recessions. The protrusions of the top surface of the bottom foam layer protrude into the recessions of the bottom surface of the top foam layer, and the protrusions of the bottom surface of the top foam layer protrude into the recessions of the top surface of the bottom foam layer. The most protruded surfaces of the protrusions of the bottom surface of the top foam layer are separated from corresponding surfaces of the recessions of the top surface of the bottom foam layer by a channel, but there is no channel between most protruded surfaces of the protrusions of the top surface of the bottom foam layer and corresponding surfaces of the recessions of the bottom surface of the top foam layer.

Abstract: A washing machine that performs a washing course by heating wash water and a control method thereof are provided. The method includes supplying wash water up to a wash water level for generation of steam such that a portion of laundry received in an inner tub is saturated by the wash water. The wash water level may be above a bottom surface of the inner tub and below a wash water level for main washing. The method then includes heating the wash water to a first set temperature and driving a washing heater to generate steam from the wash water, and supplying the generated steam to the inner tub, and then supplying the wash water up to the wash water level for main washing, and driving the washing heater again to heat the wash water to a second set temperature, the second set temperature being lower than the first set temperature.
