Abstract: A device and a method for irradiating the cornea of an eye, wherein the device comprises at least the following elements: a ring body, which has a bearing surface embodied concentrically about the longitudinal axis of the device for the purpose of fastening the device on the eye, an irradiation channel for irradiating the cornea, which is located inside the ring body, a light source, which, in the operationally-ready state of the device, is attached inside the ring body for emitting light in the irradiation channel, wherein the bearing surface for fastening the device is arranged outside the irradiation channel, which has the result that the irradiated area itself is not additionally loaded by bearing surfaces of the device.

Abstract: An IOP control system for treatment of an ocular condition includes a drainage device sized for implantation into the eye of the patient, the drainage device including a fluid flow pathway to allow the flow of fluid from an inlet port to an outlet port. The drainage device also includes a flow system disposed within the drainage device and including a displaceable portion forming a part of the fluid flow pathway, the displaceable portion being displaceable via a magnetic field. An actuation system may be physically separate from the drainage device and may be configured to cooperate with the displaceable portion to displace the displaceable portion via the magnetic field to set free buildup or debris in the flow pathway.

Abstract: A system for implantation in an eye of a patient includes a flow device sized for implantation into the eye of the patient. The flow device includes a fluid flow passageway and a flow system. The flow system may include a regulator having a magnetic element, and may be displaceable in the fluid flow passageway to affect flow through the fluid flow passageway. The system may also include a control device physically separate from the flow device and configured to be disposed outside the eye, the control device comprising an actuator magnetic field generator configured to act on the magnetic element to adjust the regulator in the flow system to selectively adjust flow through the flow device in response to changes in intraocular pressure.

Abstract: A system and method of protecting a wound on the skin that results in a reduction of scarring at the wound site. A segment of porous adhesive tape is provided. A plurality of apertures are formed into the porous adhesive tape, creating a mesh pattern. The segment of porous adhesive tape is applied to the skin using the tacky adhesive on the adhesive tape. The wound is positioned under the mesh pattern. The segment of porous adhesive tape is applied to the skin in a stretched condition. As such, the porous adhesive tape biases the skin into compression under the porous adhesive tape. The segment of porous adhesive tape and the skin under the apertures are coated with a skin adhesive. The skin adhesive bonds the segment of porous adhesive tape to the skin. This isolates the skin surrounding the wound and minimizes the stresses.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a bandage that is designed for use preferably on a digit of a person's foot but that may also be used on the digit of a person's hand or other similar surfaces. In particular, the bandage comprises a body having at least a first side surface, a second side surface, a first end, and a second end. The bandage is designed to have adjustable arms at each of the first and second end so that an arm may be adjusted if it is difficult to wrap the respective arm around the anatomical digit and/or in between the spaces of the anatomical digits.

The loading shaft may support a replacement spool including a core and a strand of material wound around the core. When the loading shaft is engaged with the mandrel, the core of the replacement spool is movable from the loading shaft to the mandrel.

Abstract: An incontinence garment with a replaceable inner pad assembly has a quick-release lower front panel to aid in avoiding accidents. The lower front panel is detachable from the upper front of the garment via cooperating hook and loop or similar fasteners. A fitted, absorbent pad carried within the garment absorbs or contains waste deposited therein during times of incontinence of the wearer, and the pad can be removed and replaced in the garment without removal of the entire garment from the wearer. Impervious flaps on edges of the inner pad help prevent leakage of liquid waste from the pad and garment.

Abstract: Tampon packaging and disposal systems and methods are disclosed. The packaging has a flexible mitten and an optional attached tampon enclosure. The tampon enclosure can package a tampon and the flexible mitten wraps around the tampon enclosure. When unwrapped, the tampon enclosure is detachable from the mitten and the tampon can be used by a user. The mitten is used for removing the used tampon worn by the user and disposing of the used tampon after removal.

Patient positioning and transfer devices are also disclosed. Various types of in-bed physical therapy devices are also disclosed.

To select the mattress, it can be determined if the weight of the patient corresponds to a value and if the weight is less than or equal to the value, a firm mattress is selected, and selecting a soft mattress if the weight is greater than the value. Further, the overlay can have a plurality air spaces provided between an upper layer, a lower layer and a plurality of monofilaments in the overlay. The plurality of air spaces can be allowed to partially collapse under the weight of the patient.

A memory may store a depth variable that can return different target values for the target depths of individual compressions. A user interface has an output device that may output an indication for the rescuer, which reflects how well the depth value of the current compression matched a corresponding target value for it. The target values may be set so as to follow a preset profile, or change according to optional measurements of force and other parameters.

A switch is mounted on a wall of the main body and may be pressed by a user of the holder. The electrical circuit includes a read only memory having pertinent information stored digitally therein. When the switch is activated, the information stored digitally in the read only memory is converted to an analog signal which is provided to the speaker so that the user may hear the pertinent information, such as instructions on how to use the auto-injection device held by the holder.

Abstract: Apparatus, systems, methods and articles are described to prepare and track medications and medication containers as they are prepared, administered to patients and, in some cases, disposed of. Information such as medication type, concentration, and volume are associated with medication containers during preparation and this information can later be consumed/utilized when administering the medication from a container to a patient. Disposing of any remaining medication can also be tracked.
