Abstract: A device for monitoring the dispensing of a soft serve product from a soft serve product dispensing machine has a housing with an open pocket formed in its side wall so that the monitoring device may be mounted on a handle of the product dispensing machine. The device includes electronic circuitry, including an accelerometer, that senses the position of the handle of the product dispensing machine. When the handle is sensed to be in a product dispense position, a timing circuit within the device monitors the time during which a soft serve product is dispensed by the machine. Knowing the flow rate of soft serve product from the dispensing machine, the monitoring device will cause a light emitting diode to illuminate to signal the user of the device to re-position the handle of the product dispensing device in the non-dispensing position.

Abstract: An energy absorbing liner system that offers a multi-stage reaction to impact and is positioned inside a member that receives an impact. The energy absorbing liner system has one or more interconnected energy absorbing modules that rebound after one or more impacts. At least some of the modules in the layer have a basal portion with multiple levels of reaction to impact. For example, a first stage has one or more membranes. A second stage has energy absorbing units with bendable walls. The membranes extend between the walls of adjacent energy absorbing units. The membranes alone or in combination with the side walls of the units at least partially cushion the blow in multiple stages of reaction by progressively absorbing energy imparted by an object that impacts the outer shell.

Abstract: The present technology relates generally to protective helmets with non-linearly deforming members. Helmets configured in accordance with embodiments of the present technology can comprise, for example, an inner layer, an outer layer, a space between the inner layer and the outer layer, and an interface layer disposed in the space. The interface layer comprises a plurality of filaments, each having a height, a longitudinal axis along the height, a first end proximal to the inner layer, and a second end proximal to the outer layer. The filaments are sized and shaped to span the space between the inner layer and the outer layer. The filaments are configured to deform non-linearly in response to an external incident force on the helmet.

Abstract: A footwear sole, more particularly a sports footwear sole, is provided. The extension of the sole can be adjusted in a transverse direction. The sole comprises a deformable portion made of the same material as the rest of the sole and is made with no discontinuity with the rest of the sole. The deformable portion extends in the longitudinal direction of the sole over the whole length of the sole or at least over a substantial portion thereof. Owing to this solution, the sole does not have any discontinuity areas and the non-uniformities in the structural features of the sole, for instance in terms of flexional and torsional rigidity, are remarkably limited.
