Abstract: The combination of EGCG and a derivative of a basic amino acid has been found to be an effective anti-yeast agent in acidic food. The present invention relates to a method for controlling or preventing the growth of yeast in acidic food (i.e. with a pH between 2 and 6) comprising adding to said food a) epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) and b) a derivative of a basic amino acid, and/or a salt thereof, as an anti-yeast agent. The present invention further relates to a composition for addition to food and to an acidic food comprising said composition.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of probiotic on expecting female mammals to boost the immune status of an offspring. The use can induce an enhanced response of the offspring after birth to an infectious antigenic exposure. Ultimately the use of probiotic in expecting females can induce a better protection of their offspring against infectious diseases.

Abstract: An apparatus for removal of waste material in a process for extracting puree, or juice, from a starting product based on vegetable or animal food including a step of feeding a measured amount of starting product to a machine for extracting puree. The starting product can be pre-treated, for example softened, and then subject to an extraction step, obtaining a main product including the puree, which is discharged via a first outlet, and a waste material that is discharged via a second outlet. The waste material is then mixed with a measured amount of a liquid, for example water, obtaining a heterogeneous mixture. The heterogeneous mixture can be thus easily removed by suction, for example by a hydraulic pump connected to the second outlet, to be quickly withdrawn from the extraction section avoiding the risk of jamming the machine at the second outlet.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are described herein related to an environmental monitoring system configured to avoid spoilage of goods by alerting a supervisor to hazardous conditions. A cigar humidor may be monitored by placing a cigar-shaped and cigar-sized sensor-equipped component made from metal or cedar wood inside the humidor amongst the cigars. The sensors monitor a plurality of parameters, of which relative humidity is of particular importance for cigar humidors. One hazardous condition, which is tracked by the system is the absence of an airing event for a period greater than a pre-configured interval. Once an airing event has been absent for a long enough time period, either a pre-alert or a full alert is being issued. The system offers multiple alternative ways of detecting airing events including time series anomaly discovery algorithms with grammar-based compression.

Wires and an airflow sensor are provided on the control module. An elastic mounting base is provided within the battery casing. The elastic mounting base is provided with a through hole running along the axial direction. The control module is installed in the through hole of the elastic mounting base. An inner peripheral surface of the elastic mounting base elastically abuts against an outer peripheral surface of the control module. The wires penetrate the through hole and parts of the wires are compressed between the control module and the elastic mounting base. Compared to the prior art wherein wires pass through separate holes, the invention has a simple assembly means, reduces the product defect rate, and improves the sensitivity of the electronic cigarette.

One needs only pull out the desired tool when using it and let it retract back into a cavity when not in use, while having access to use of all of one's fingers, which remain uncovered by the glove/fabric in embodiments of the disclosed technology.

Abstract: Electrically conductive vulcanised epoxidised natural rubber [ENR]-carbon black blends can be produced by using either internal mechanical mixing method or open milling method. These two methods are commercially friendly due to their practicability and high production rate. The addition of vulcanisation system, either sulfur or peroxide type does not affect the electrical properties of the vulcanised blends. All vulcanized blends prepared in this innovation show useful electrical properties with electrical volume resistances as low as the order of 101 ohms. All these vulcanised blends also exhibit good mechanical properties with tensile strengths up to 26.0 MPa and Dunlop rebound resiliencies of 14.0% (i.e. high damping property). The black colour level of all these vulcanised blends is adjustable. As a result of good electrical and mechanical properties (especially high damping property), they have good potential to be used for antistatic footwear manufacturing and application.
