Abstract: A combined harness and leash device is disclosed. The device may comprise a one-piece buckleless pet harness, constructed from braided rope or other suitable material. Useful materials of construction may include natural or synthetic fibers and may include recycled fibers. The harness may consist of one continuous loop to prevent choking or strangulation. A slip assembly is used to create two adjustable loops that fit around a pet's front legs and wrap back through the slip assembly to form a leash or lead. When applying the harness, pet owners may enlarge one loop at a time in order to slip the pet's forelegs into place. Further, the harness may be ornamented with decorative gems, rhinestones, and other design elements for an enhanced look. The harness is offered in assorted colors as needed, as well as various sizes to suit different dog breeds.

Abstract: The field of this invention is classifying animal behaviors. In particular the fields of this invention include using animals in vivariums, such as rodents, particularly mice. Animal behaviors are classified according to behaviors consistent with healthy or unhealthy organs or locations within organs, such as the brain. Injected neoplastic cells may be used to create an unhealthy organ or location within an organ. Classifications also include responses to different therapies. The behavior of the animals is observed using fully automatic, continuous monitoring using per-cage ultrasonic and video sensors, where behavior recording is free of human, manual actions. Observed behavior is consistent with healthy or unhealthy behaviors specific to the injection site. Both positive and negative baseline behaviors are collected, typically using the same system or method.

Abstract: The field of this invention is classifying animal behaviors. In particular the fields of this invention include using animals in vivariums, such as rodents, particularly mice. Ultrasonic vocalizations are compared to times-shifted video behaviors of the same mice to identify vocalizations that occur prior to, during, and after particular video behaviors. The comparisons generate correlations weights that may then be used to apply known classifications of the video behaviors to the vocalizations.

Abstract: A pressure activated bird entertainment and treat dispensing system (PBETS) that provides stimulation for a bird, as well as for a bird owner. The PBETS is a themed structure that is placed within a birdcage, or outside of a birdcage. The structure is either horizontally or vertically oriented and has a design based on a theme such as an outdoor scene, an indoor scene, a nature scene, an amusement park ridge design, or an artistic design. Each structure presents multiple geometric and non-geometric shapes, curves and edges. A bird applies pressure from a beak, claw, foot or from weight onto a sensor, which activates a treat release mechanism. Preferably a food treat is released and passes through a treat tube to a location from which the bird can access the treat. The treat release mechanism can either be manually operated or motor driven. A motor also operates various elements on the structure such as moving components, lights or sounds from a speaker.

An expression vector was developed which can induce the expression of a mammalian-type glycosylation-related gene group only in a silk gland such that the recombinant protein modified with the mammalian-type sugar chain has no adverse effect on the silkworm itself. Abstract: Immune function of a plant can be modulated by administering a composition comprising beta glucan, where the beta glucan includes unbranched beta-(1,3)-glucan. Such unbranched beta-(1,3)-glucan can be obtained from Euglena, including heterotrophically grown Euglena. The unbranched beta-(1,3)-glucan can be in the form of paramylon and/or can be part of algae meal. The composition can further include a fertilizer, a pesticide, a fungicide, a bactericide, combinations thereof, as well as one or more various plant immune system modulators other than beta glucan. The wellbeing of the plant seed, seedling, mature plant, or harvested plant product can accordingly be improved.

Abstract: A crimping and cutting assembly includes a first roller engaged with a second roller including a honeycomb pattern of polygonal crimping and cutting members. Various transversely spaced, internally filled dough ropes are fed between the first and second rollers, causing each rope to be continuously crimped and cut at longitudinally spaced locations to create multi-sided food products, specifically polygonal food products having two to six crimped and cut sides. The ropes can permissibly shift or wander laterally during production, resulting in slightly different size or shape food products, while the honeycomb pattern acts to re-align the ropes so as to be tolerant to the ropes wandering while still preventing puncturing of the ropes which could lead to loss of filling and extended production downtime.
