Abstract: Oceans are warming becoming more acidic, and coral reefs are rapidly declining primarily due to anthropogenic global warming (climate change). Methods must be found to preserve as many of the 3000 species of soft corals as possible before they are gone. Maintaining biodiversity on coral reefs is essential to a balanced healthy reef. Since the chances of a political solution to reducing greenhouses gases are very unlikely, steps must be taken now to collect, preserve, and propagate as many marine reef organisms as possible including soft corals. Propagation methods of stony corals are well known, but soft corals are far more difficult to propagate due to their lack of a stony skeleton. This invention presents three methods for high volume, efficient, and inexpensive propagation of soft corals Alcyonacea (Octocorallia) and Corallimorpharia. Two methods use cubes in an eggcrate matrix, and the third involves propagating soft corals on glass plates.

The body further comprises an eyelet for attaching a fishing line. At least two shanks anchor the fish hook to the bait fish, one of the shanks extends from the first end at least partially along the longitudinal axis and the other shank extending from the second end at least partially along the longitudinal axis. The at least two shanks each have at least one barb extending from the shank for anchoring the fish hook to the live bait, wherein the barbs are adapted to prevent rotation of the body about the longitudinal axis relative to the live bait.

Abstract: A fish holding tool for safe and secure holding of a caught fish for purposes such as removing a hook from its mouth. The fish holding tool operates as a pliers having a planar four-bar toggle linkage, where the upper jaw of the upper member remains stationary and the lower jaw is opened and closed by manipulation of the lower handle. The fish holding tool is made of a lightweight, buoyant material, and allows stability by the positioning of a lower-jaw tab into an upper-jaw slot and by a toggle linkage having a toggle-linkage bumper. The fish holding tool provides a tapered extending tip on the forward end of the upper jaw, which facilitates the opening of the mouth of the caught fish even where the fish forcefully holds its mouth closed in reaction to having been hooked.

Abstract: An insect control device is provided for controlling insects in a household garbage receptacle used in an outdoor or semi-outdoor environment. The insect control device includes an outer housing with gas-flow apertures therein, a quantity of a gas-releasing insect poison contained within the housing, and an adhesive attaching element for securing the housing to an inner surface of a closed or lidded household garbage receptacle. Gas released by the insect poison flows out of the housing through the gas-flow apertures to permeate the air inside the enclosed garbage containment area and kill insects therein while the adhesive element keeps the device securely in place within the garbage receptacle and out of the reach of children and pets during both use and emptying of the receptacle.
