  • Patent number: 11559976
Abstract: A gravure printing unit, which is usable for printing on a substrate, according to a gravure printing method, includes a forme cylinder which comprises, on its circumference, an image-forming pattern of recesses, and an inking unit, by the use of which the pattern of recesses provided on the forme cylinder is inked. The forme cylinder can be partially inked from an inking device via a first inking unit cylinder which has recesses in the region of its outer cylindrical surface that correspond to recesses on the forme cylinder, and via a second inking unit cylinder, which cooperates with the first inking unit cylinder and which comprises ink-transferring elements or raised areas on its circumference. For controlling the transfer of ink, the first inking unit cylinder having the recesses, is configured as being temperature controllable or has a temperature control device in the ink unit supply. Alternatively, a printing pressure between inking units cylinders can be varied during operation.

Abstract: The invention relates to an ink chamber doctor blade (1) for acting upon an ink transfer roll (7) of a rotary press with a fluid, in particular with printing ink, which (1) has the following features: an ink chamber (2), which is filled with ink during printing, and which extends in an axial direction of the ink transfer roll (7), two doctor blades (3, 4), which are in physical contact with the ink transfer roll (7) during printing and which extend in the axial direction of the ink transfer roll (7). At least one additional doctor blade (13) can be inserted into the ink chamber doctor blade (1) and can be fixed by means of holding devices (9, 14) inside the ink chamber (2). The holding devices comprise at least one element (14), which is pretensioned by elastic force against at least one counter holder (9) and with which the additional doctor blade (13) can be pressed against the counter holder (9).

Abstract: Liner for a radial-type ink fountain in a printing machine; ie. the sloping ink fountain bottom's lower edge is, via a nip with gap-adjustment by edge-positioning for controlled metering of ink, opposed an ink roller dragging down ink adhering to the ink roller surface during downward rotational movement. The liner (19) has panel(s) to cover else ink-wetted areas in the ink fountain reservoir, thus having a bottom panel (20) with a longitudinal edge (24) extending along the ink fountain bottom's edge adjacent the nip, when installed. Ink penetration between the liner underside and the ink fountain bottom surface from the nip-area is inventively avoided by primary adhesive means (25) striplike continuously extending along bottom panel's edge (24) nearest the nip to sealingly joining the bottom panel edge-area to the ink fountain bottom without bottom panel edge protruding freely towards the ink roller. Manufacturing methods are also claimed.
