Abstract: Apparatus for adjusting the longitudinal and angular position of a work surface support leg. The leg passes through a channel in a cap held via a spring and pin to a base affixed to the work surface. The leg's angular position is adjusted by rotating the cap, which moves a tooth through a series of mating depressions. The longitudinal position is adjusted by moving the leg which has a series of notches that mate with a locking tooth in the cap. A knob interfaces with the cap via a rotary cam having high and low steps and a matching cam rider. The low step allows separation between the cap and base and the high step locks the cap to the base, thereby locking in the adjustment setting for the leg.

  • Patent number: 6220179
Abstract: A table contains a top panel supported at opposite sides by a pair of telescopic columns and a system of flexible links providing tension between the top panel and the bottom base. Height adjustment between the TOP and BOTTOM positions is achieved by extending the telescopic columns until the engagement of the spring-loaded pins. Tensioning of the flexible links in the BOTTOM position is achieved by engaging a pulley with a barbed rod extending from the bottom base so that the slack in the flexible links is removed. Once in a TOP position, tilting may be achieved by releasing one of the flexible links from the top panel and engaging the pulley with the barbed rod as if in the BOTTOM position.

  • Patent number: 6149253
Abstract: A video display positioning and support system that permits the orientation of a video display towards the user with variations in vertical height, horizontal rotation, and angular tilt. The system includes actuators for each of the movements involved that are capable of control by way of a remote operating system. The system provides a platform upon which the video display may be placed. The platform may be tilted at an angle from the horizontal as controlled by an actuator positioned near the back of the platform. The platform may be rotated in a horizontal plane so as to direct the video display from side to side, by an actuator that turns the platform on a circular bearing track. The display platform is positioned on a support frame that is attached to a vertical lift actuator that raises and lowers the entire display. The lift actuator is attached to and supported by a base frame that holds a storage cabinet and has a number of wheels for easy movement of the complete system.

  • Patent number: 5671091
Abstract: An improved computer graphic work station is disclosed of the type that includes a digitizer for allowing an artist or other user to input a drawing into a computer, and an imaging device to produce an image of the drawing as it is being drawn. A beam splitter reflects at least a portion of the produced image to the eye of the user. The position and orientation of the beam splitter may be varied by a user relative to the imaging device in order to allow the user to align the workstation by causing the reflected image to appear, in the user's eye, to be substantially coincident with the drawing. Once aligned, the user may adjust the position and orientation of the digitizing surface without upsetting the alignment.

  • Patent number: 5636394
Abstract: A hospital bed including a base adapted to roll over the floor, a litter disposed on the base upon which the patient rests, a lift assembly designed to selectively position the litter a selected vertical distance above the base and at least one stabilizer unit between the litter and the base. Each stabilizer unit includes a pair of rack-and-pinion assemblies that extend between the base and the litter. The pinions of the rack-and-pinion assembly are connected together to rotate in unison. Owing to the interconnection of the pinions, the rack-and-pinion assemblies are prevented from moving vertically in directions opposite to each other. This lock-out of the rack-and-pinion movement prevents the litter from moving side-to-side. The stabilizer unit thus prevents the undesirable side-to-side rocking movement of the litter.
