  • Patent number: 8444345
Abstract: A floatation collar for a sensor package forming part of a detection array comprises two halves that when joined together act as a protective casing that secures and orients a sensor package in an optimal configuration within a water column. The collar comprises a shell tilled with syntactic foam. The cellar top portion includes a series of projections strategically placed to protecting the sensor package transducers against mechanical damage. The base bottom portion of the collar is conical with an integral thimble to allow the collar to ride down and then emerge under a passing trawl net or other fishing lines or cables by presenting a smooth aspect and a secure means of tethering said unit to a bottom anchor.

  • Patent number: 7341012
Abstract: The present invention relates to a barge with an open top container for receiving a cargo mounted on the deck characterized in that the container is pivotally mounted on the deck such that cargo (e.g. marine sand) can be discharged from the barge by tilting of the container about the pivotal axis. The barge is particularly useful for use in land reclamation projects and the invention further relates to a method of reclaiming land utilizing such barges.

  • Patent number: 7243609
Abstract: The present invention relates to a capsule sized to contain a weapon for launching and to withstand depth pressures. A telescoping nose section of the capsule, normally unextended around the weapon, extends at launch along a longitudinal axis of the capsule to provide the buoyancy used to lift the capsule out of a stored state and to ascent the capsule towards the surface. Once the surface is reached, a nose cone of the capsule is jettisoned to allow the weapon to exit the capsule.

  • Patent number: 5148758
Abstract: A system for processing sold municipal waste and nonhazardous commercial waste comprises a multi-level floating marine vessel tied up alongside a dock. The vessel has a processing deck for processing incoming solid waste materials into multiple lines of material-specific recycling bins arranged symmetrically with respect to the midships region of the vessel. The vessel has forward and aft overhangs on the processing deck level big enough to drop load non-recyclable waste at the end of each said line into refuse barges moored directly below said overhangs. The vessel preferably has a tipping deck located above and approximately coextensive with said processing deck on the vessel with at least one opening accessible to trucks from the dock for loading solid waste onto the vessel. A bailing and storage deck located below the processing deck on the vessel has an opening accessible to trucks from the dock for unloading recyclables.

  • Patent number: 4878446
Abstract: A method for the forming and the deposition in a selected place of a bulk consisting substantially of loose or lightly cohesive material, such as sand or other ground material, for example for use as the core or base of a dam, quay, a bank reinforcement, a jetty or a breakwater, for filing holes or trenches in the bed of a waterway, or for the packaging and storage of contaminated material. The invention has for its purpose to carry out a method of the type in such manner that it can be performed very inexpensively and quickly, while nonetheless ensuring an excellent durability of the formed bulk, both in the short and the long term.

  • Patent number: 4829924
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transporting a marine superstructure on a vessel floating in a body of water to a working site, placing the semi submersible part of the apparatus into a body of water, lowering the semi submersible into a stable position, moving the marine superstructure from the vessel and onto the semi submersible, elevating the semi submersible with the marine superstructure over the marine structure, lowering the semi submersible vessel and marine superstructure, causing the marine superstructure to rest on the marine structure, pulling the semi submersible away from the marine structure and marine superstructure and placing the semi submersible back onto the vessel. To remove the marine superstructure from the marine structure and place the marine superstructure onto the vessel the same method is used in reverse.
