Patent number: 11484908Abstract: Web lifter and/or stabilizer and method of lifting and/or stabilizing a travelling web and for coating a web. The device creates a web hold down force via a negative pressure slot at its exit side, which draws the web down against the surface on the entry side. The device can be actuated to move the web relative to a slot die coater off the die lips and stop the application of slurry to the web, thereby creating uncoated regions on the web surface. The device can then be actuated to move the web back into contact with the coater to start the application of slurry to the web, thereby creating coated regions on the web surface. Web lifting can be accomplished by rotating the device in first and second directions to lift the web off of the slot die coater and return the web back into contact with the coater.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2019Date of Patent: November 1, 2022Assignee: Durr Systems, Inc.Inventors: Kim A. Patent number: 7445693Abstract: Two axially parallel rolls are pressed against each other in a device for producing and/or treating a moving material web. Sensor elements are arranged in the force transmission path running from the force-producing elements via the rolls, outside roll bodies of the two rolls. As a result of displacing the sensor elements out of the roll bodies of the rolls, the production of the rolls is less complicated and less expensive. No sensors have to be embedded in the roll bodies, which opens up the possibility of using standard rolls. In addition, the occasional grinding of the rolls can in this way be performed without any regard to the sensor elements. Nevertheless, the pressure prevailing between the rolls can continue to be measured directly, since the sensor elements are arranged in the transmission path of the pressing force.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 2005Date of Patent: November 4, 2008Assignee: Voith Paper Patent GmbHInventors: Manfred Ueberschär, Christoph Henninger, Eckard Wozny, Horst Kaipf

Patent number: 6485567Abstract: An external electrode forming apparatus is used to form external electrodes on the component chips. The external electrode forming apparatus comprises a component conveyer belt, a belt feeding mechanism, a component-inserting machine, a component-reversing machine, a paste-coating machine, and a component-discharging machine. For the component-inserting machine, the component-reversing machine, and the component-discharging machine, pressure pins are used to insert or move the component chips. These pressure pins have at the tip part a taper portion with a tip shape smaller than that of the component holding hole. Since the pressure pins of this type are used, the tip portions of these pressure pins may be prevented from impinging upon the opening edges of the component holding holes, and the pressure pins after the impingement may be hindered from forcibly being inserted into the component holding holes, whereby damage to the interiors of the component holding holes can be extremely diminished.Type: GrantFiled: April 6, 2001Date of Patent: November 26, 2002Assignee: Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd.Inventors: Naoki Obana, Minoru Yuasa, Kazuo Naganuma

Patent number: 5057337Abstract: A pair of solder coating rolls are disposed horizontally adjacent one another for rotation about parallel horizontal axes, and are spaced apart to define a narrow vertically-oriented nip therebetween for accommodating a lead frame therein. Lower parts of the rolls contact a solder bath, and counter rotation of the rolls carries the solder upwardly on the periphery of the rolls to create a small pool of solder at the upper end of the nip. The lead frame is driven vertically upwardly through the nip, which nip has a minimal dimension greater than the lead frame thickness. The lead frame is driven vertically upwardly at a linear speed which is different from, and preferably slower than, the peripheral speed fo the solder coating rolls. This enables preheating of the surface of the lead frame due to its longer exposure to and contact with the hot solder which coats the periphery of the rolls, thereby improving the wetability of the lead frame surface.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 1990Date of Patent: October 15, 1991Assignee: Fuji Seiki Machine Works, Ltd.Inventors: Shinichi Makino, Naokatsu Kojima

Coating material (C) metered by a doctor blade (34) is applied to the transfer roll (20) at (40) and then applied to the web in a uniform layer (78). The pressure table (B) is supported against the web by a counter-balancing linkage arrangement (D) which maintains a constant uniform pressure on the table (B) and web (W) regardless of the vertical movements of a table platform (60) in response to web variations an irregularities. A smooth uniform coating (80) is provided.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 1984Date of Patent: July 22, 1986Inventor: Robert J. Poterala

Patent number: 4294187Abstract: A paint applicator for direct roll coating of textured panels or sheet-like members comprises a core, a layer of fibrous web material disposed over the core, a protective plastic tube member disposed around the layer of fibrous web material, and a layer of woven material disposed over the protective tube member. The fibrous web allows for uniform application of the paint film due to its softness and ability to follow contoured surfaces. The protective tube member prevents paint from penetrating the fiber web. The woven material carries the paint on the roll applicator.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 1980Date of Patent: October 13, 1981Assignee: Champion International CorporationInventor: Ozzie Fogle

Patent number: 4235189Abstract: Apparatus for applying bronze powder to adhesive-coated portions of one side of a running web of cigarette paper has a magazine for a supply of bronze powder and a feed screw which draws powder from the magazine and delivers some of the withdrawn powder into a chamber for a transfer wheel whose peripheral surface applies powder to the one side of the web. The powder which fails to adhere to the web is returned into the helical groove of the feed screw upstream of the chamber. A cylindrical sleeve which surrounds the feed screw has an outlet located downstream of the chamber and serving to return into the magazine such powder which is transported beyond the chamber. The sleeve has a longitudinally extending slot for a brush whose bristles extend into the helical groove of the feed screw to prevent agglomeration of powder in the groove.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 1978Date of Patent: November 25, 1980Assignee: Hauni-Werke Korber & Co. Patent number: 4158495Abstract: A developer apparatus is provided for developing exposed diazotype copy sheets comprising an applicator roller, means for supplying liquid developer to the applicator roller, a metering blade for wiping excessive liquid from the applicator roller and a pressure blade for pressing a copy sheet against the surface of the applicator roller to transfer liquid from the applicator roller to the copy sheet to develop an image thereon. The metering and pressure blades are arranged for sliding movement between an inoperative position ineffective to develop the copy sheet and an operative position in pressure engagement with the applicator roller for developing the copy sheet. Cam and linkage control means is provided for sequentially moving the blades between the inoperative and operative positions under control of a manually operable actuating means.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 1978Date of Patent: June 19, 1979Assignee: AM International, Inc.Inventors: Terry G.
