The adapting device is provided for correcting fuel quantity delivered by the pump in the range of the full-load and starting speeds, and is in operative connection with a quantity-control member of the injection pump via a two-step stop. The two-step stop can be transferred as a function of speed from a position corresponding to the starting speed into a position corresponding to the full-load speed.

  • Patent number: 5063900
Abstract: A mechanical speed governor for a fuel injection pump of air-compressing auto-ignition internal combustion engines has a stop bracket effecting the release of the starting quantity and limiting the full-load quantity, a flyweight arrangement with integrated positive adaptation acting in the upper speed range and a rocker lever which is in effective connection with the flyweight arrangement. The stop bracket is shifted from a position corresponding to the full-load speed. The rocker lever alters the control travel of the quantity control member for full load via the stop bracket and a counterstop connected to the quantity control member, and effects a negative adaptation in the lower speed range.

Abstract: A fuel injection pump for supplying the combustion chambers of internal combustion engines intended for vehicle operation having, in addition to a fuel quantity regulating device operative in accordance with operating parameters of the engine, an adjusting device in which in accordance with an anti-buckling signal obtained from fast relative movements on the vehicle the fuel supply quantity of the fuel injection pump is varied in phase opposition to the acceleration event triggering the bucking. • Patent number: 4920938
Abstract: A governor for fuel injection pumps, said governor having two or three cooperating levers used to move a fuel injection quantity control slide. A regulating spring and the idling spring engage the drag lever. A start spring is disposed between the drag lever and the start lever, the start spring is opposed by the force of a flyweight assembly which is speed-dependent. When starting the combustion engine, the start lever, which is connected to the drag lever via a pivot pin, is in an initial position corresponding to a setting of the quantity control slide, which setting is smaller than the full injection quantity. When starting, the quantity control slide is displaced through a first control range to deliver a greater quantity of fuel, up to the full load injection quantities. Thereupon, when instituting a decrease, further displacement of the flyweight assembly results in the quantity control slide being displaced through a second control range in the direction of smaller quantities of fuel.

  • Patent number: 4913115
Abstract: When motor vehicles are driven, discontinuities that lead to load spikes arise between overrunning and running under load. The load spikes are avoided by means of a discontinuous increase in fuel quantity, which makes it possible for the engine to come gently to rest in its suspension, to bypass the drive play, and to convert the changes in increased fuel quantity without bucking. By incorporating drag elements into the connection between the arbitrary actuation of an intermediate lever, which affects the fuel injection quantity, and an idling stop, a discontinuous adjustment of the intermediate lever is attained.

  • Patent number: 4909216
Abstract: The lever (13) cooperates on the one hand with a rotatable part (12) and, on the other, is coupled with a to-and-fro movable adjusting member (14). The lever (13) consists of a housing (15) traversed by the rotatable part (12), of a piston-like spring plate (16) and of a return spring (19) clamped-in between housing (15) and sping plate (16). Spring plate (16) and rotatable part (12) form in the mutually cooperating area a torque-limiting driving device. The hollow space (25) underneath the spring plate (16) is adapted to be acted upon with oil pressure by bores (21, 22) in the rotatable part (12) which are controllably connected to a pressure oil source (24). The oil pressure displaces the spring plate (16) so that the driving device is disengaged. The lever (13) is then displaced by the spring (27) of the to-and-fro movable part into an end position independently of the position of the rotatable part (12) which corresponds to the zero delivery of the fuel injection pump (11).

Abstract: In a fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines for motor vehicles, a damping device is provided to eliminate so-called vehicle bucking. The device allows rapid adjusting movements of an rpm adjusting lever, which is connected to the driving lever, to affect the supply quantity setting of the fuel injection pump only with a delay. To this end, the damping device has a damping chamber defined by a damping cylinder and a damping piston displaceable therein. The damping chamber communicates with the pump interior via two parallel throttles and via counter-parallel check valves located in series with the parallel throttles. The damping piston is connected to a damper lever on which the rpm adjusting lever is supported via a pre-stressed drag spring.

  • Patent number: 4875449
Abstract: In order to prevent troublesome load change shocks in an internal combustion engine for a vehicle, the power control element thereof consists of an adjustment lever operationally positioned between two spring stops. The first spring stop provides elastic transmission of accelerator pedal commands from a fuel control cable and the second spring stop, which comprises a stronger spring, is effective only after the adjustment lever moves through a preset free path and engages a support fixed on the housing. As a result, during a fuel control cable motion defined by the first spring stop, the adjustment lever is not moved, whereas thereafter, during a further fuel control cable motion, the adjustment lever is moved since the force of the spring associated with the second stop is overcome.

Abstract: A boost compensator has a valve operative in response to a boost pressure. When the boost pressure is equal to or lower than a setting pressure, the valve intercepts communication between first and second chambers of the boost compensator which are partitioned by a diaphragm. When the boost pressure exceeds the setting pressure, the valve brings the first and second chambers into communication with each other. By the communication, pressure within the second chamber is raised so that the diaphragm and a push rod operatively connected to the diaphragm are moved toward the first chamber. As a result, a control member of a fuel injection pump is caused to be moved in a fuel decreasing direction.

  • Patent number: 4831984
Abstract: According to the present invention, there is provided a centrifugal governor for an injection type internal combustion engine, particularly an all speed governor for a small fuel injection pump which is accomodatable in a housing a cam shaft extends through. A flyweight is disposed at an end of the cam shaft so as to produce propulsion power backward, and the movement of the flyweight causes the tension lever, which has a point of support at its center, to rotate, thereby pressing a governor spring assembly of a concentric, multi-core spring which exerts no load on elements that support the spring assembly. The displacement of the flyweight causes via the tension lever the torque cam to rotate. A guide lever and a floating lever are rotatably supported at the lower end of the tension lever, and the opposite end of the guide lever is united with the floating lever by a cancellation spring.
