    Abstract: A charcoal fire starter and cooker incorporating an open ended tubular body which is divided by a perforate grate into a charcoal chamber and a combustion chamber; therebeing vents in the body for developing a flue effect to concentrate maximum heat intensity in the vicinity of the charcoal chamber. A pair of closures are telescopically received over opposite end portions of the tubular body, each closure incorporating a flat cooking surface and a skirt formed with vents adapted for adjustable registration with the tubular body vents for developing a cooker in operation. Detachable handles are provided for ready insertion within and removal from the body and closures with the body handles being adapted for supporting an auxiliary grill in usage.

    Abstract: A charcoal starter used with a conventional charcoal barbecue grill for outdoor cooking includes a tapered housing formed by interconnecting quadrilateral sidewalls that are arranged to rest vertically on the supporting surface of the charcoal grill. The sidewalls define open top and bottom portions with the area of the bottom opening being greater than the area of the top opening. A row of air inlet apertures and a pair of openings are provided in each of the sidewalls adjacent the lower end portions and the upper end portions thereof respectively. A handle member is detachably engageable with a pair of openings for lifting the housing into and out of position on the barbecue grill supporting surface. A grate having a plurality of apertures extending therethrough is positioned in the housing and is supported at an elevation above the sidewall air inlet apertures by support members secured to the grate.

    Abstract: A barbecue grill for cooking food with charcoal fuel or the like is disclosed as including a housing having a lower portion including a rack on which the fuel to be burned is located, and an upper portion having a cooking grill on which food to be cooked is placed. The upper portion is closed in by a cover which includes an adjustable opening for controlling the smoke content of the grill during cooking. A novel fuel igniter is provided on the rack holding the charcoal and is movable between an upright position in which the charcoal is ignited and a second position in which the lighter is protected from drippings from the food being cooked.
