Abstract: A hair curling apparatus in which comb teeth protrude and retract includes an electro thermal line heater mounted within a cylindrical body to provide heat, comb teeth configured to protrude from the body to comb and wind hair, a cap and a handle in a front portion and a rear portion of the body, a shaft installed substantially at a center inside the body, a lever coupled to the handle, wherein the shaft is moved forward or backward when the lever is pushed or pulled, a link connected to the shaft through a pin, and a support connected to the link through the pin, wherein the support is raised or lowered in an upper or lower portion of the shaft, and the comb teeth protrudes or retracts through holes formed by perforating the cylindrical body.

Abstract: A retractable bristle brush has a handle with a stem attached at one end thereof to one end of the handle and extending longitudinally therefrom. A cylindrical barrel extends concentrically around the stem and has a plurality of spaced holes therethrough. A plurality of bristles is affixed at one end to the stem and project at their other end through the holes in the barrel. An actuator is connected with one of the barrel and stem to move the barrel and stem relative to one another to deflect the bristles and cause them to retract through the holes to a shielded position inside the barrel. The natural resiliency and memory of the bristles causes them to move the barrel and stem relative to one another to their original position with the bristles extended through the holes when pressure is released from the actuator.

Abstract: A hairbrush assembly includes an elongated first cylinder having a first end and a second end. An elongated second cylinder is positioned on and is rotatable with respect to the first cylinder. The second cylinder has a distal end and a proximal end with respect to the second end of the first cylinder. The second end extends outwardly from the distal end of the second cylinder. The second cylinder has a plurality of rows of aligned apertures extending from the proximal end and toward the distal end. A plurality of bristle assemblies is provided and each is positioned between the first and second cylinders adjacent to the first end of the first cylinder. Each of the bristle assemblies is selectively positioned in an extended position extending outwardly of the apertures or in a retracted position positioned within an interior space defined between the first and second cylinders.

The retractable bristle brush includes a handle adapted for grasping by a user and an elongated, cylindrical inner mandrel extending from the handle; a plurality of bristles extending outwardly from the inner mandrel; a cylindrical external mandrel is slidably mounted on the inner mandrel, the external mandrel forming a bristle orifice through a top surface thereof in connection with a bristle cavity formed by the external mandrel wherein each associated orifice and bristle cavity disposes at least one bristle; and a mechanism for controlling bristle extension in connection between the external mandrel and the internal mandrel limiting longitudinal movement of the external mandrel between an open position wherein the bristles extend through the orifice and a closed position wherein the bristles are retracted to a position within the bristle cavity proximate the top surface of the external mandrel.

Alignment channels assure movement of the bristles through the perforated panel without binding. In alternative embodiments, a full expandable linkage or a half expandable linkage extend and retract the bristles through the perforated panel of the hairbrush.

Abstract: A retractable brush for brushing, cleaning and curling hair comprises an outer tubular member having a pattern of bristle apertures, and an inner tubular member extending lengthwise within the outer tubular member and being mounted to undergo angular displacement in opposite directions within the outer tubular member. A plurality of bristle supports each extend lengthwise within the outer tubular member and support a series of bristles. The bristle supports have opposite end portions turnably mounted on flanges on the inner tubular member to undergo angular displacement in forward and reverse directions to effect extension and retraction of the bristles through the bristle apertures of the outer tubular member in response to angular displacement of the inner tubular member.

Abstract: The improved retractable brush for brushing, cleaning and curling hair of the present invention is substantially set forth in the abstract. The retractable brush is constructed with a brushing base, an elongated tube and, a pair of handles, upper and lower, which are joined by at their rear ends by "U" shape creating spring force. The brushing base has at least one or more rows of teeth/bristles. The upper handle is connected to a brushing base with a slightly upward angle before assembled. When lower handle is in a horizontal figure from the side view, the base of the front is in its highest position. The connected area, between the handle and base is flexible enough to bend down when brushing base is in contact with inner surface of the tube after assembled. The lower handle is securely connected to the lower portion of the tube. The tube has a series of openings which align with the teeth/bristles. The spring force will automatically return the upper handle to the open position.

A sleeve through which the tines of the combs pass, is rotatable relative to the mandrel body to swing the tines beneath the surface of the sleeve to release the hair. Abstract: There is provided a collapsible brush structure comprised of a body portion, a bristle bed movable in the longitudinal direction of the body, a plurality of bristles being set in the bristle bed, and means for moving the bristle bed between first and second positions whereby the bristles are in an erect condition and a flattened condition respectively. A feature of the structure is the provision of rotatable guide means through which the bristles pass, the guide means functioning to clean the bristles whenever they are moved from the erect condition to the flattened condition. The brush structure is a very compact one and can easily be carried in a pocket of the user.
