Patent number: 11793288Abstract: Retainers hold a fiber bundle rotated through a length of the retainer via a gap in the retainer that can be widened by stretching the same and closed by release and further by rotating the fiber. The retainer may be single-piece parallelepiped, cylinder, prism, etc. bearing an outermost surface on which the bundle can wind and be supported. The retainer is fabricated of a resilient elastic like natural rubber or a synthetic rubber such as styrene-butadiene rubber. Methods pass the bundle through the gap and then wind it around the retainer before passing it back through the gap. The bundle may be inserted and/or wound for any length of the bundle and may include spacing in each turn so as to expose the underlying retainer through each turn. The bundle may be held in the wound position for any desired amount of time and then removed.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 2018Date of Patent: October 24, 2023Assignee: Bukli HaircareInventor: Elitza D. Patent number: 10531717Abstract: A pliable assembly and method for restraining and curling hair serves to wrap strands of hair about an elongated panel and then fold a pair of annular members about the ends of the elongated panel to restrain and curl the hair. Further, an elastic retaining band extends between the annular members and intermeshes with the notches in the annular members, so as to securely retain the annular members in the folded arrangement around the strands of curled hair. An elongated body comprises a first end, a second end, and a central slot disposed centrally along the length of the panel. The central slot receives a strand of hair for wrapping around the panel, or an object for stowage. The annular members comprise an outer circumference defined by a junction gap and an inner circumference defined by notches. The restraint band holds annular members in folded arrangement to restrain hair.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 2017Date of Patent: January 14, 2020Inventor: Hilary O'Hare

Patent number: 5819762Abstract: A curler whose diameter increases in size as hair is being wound up by, at least at the beginning of a winding-up process, laying the self-gripping tape strip in one or more turns around the curling core and thus building up self-gripping tape material on the curling core. Since, due to the outwardly projecting protrusions, the self-gripping tape material is of a given thickness, with every turn produced by the self-gripping tape strip on the curling core, the diameter of the curler is increased. With a selected length of the self-gripping tape strip it can be achieved that the self-gripping tape is wound on the curler with complete surrounding layers providing an increased diameter which is present for the entire circumferential surface of the curler. The result is a universal curler with which a relatively large width of different hair lengths can be retained. A curler of this type replaces a plurality of self-sticking curlers of different diameter, requiring little sales space.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 1996Date of Patent: October 13, 1998Assignee: Georg WiegnerInventor: Hyeong Suk Kim

The lever portion is attached to and extends from the blade portion for actuation by a finger of a user.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 1996Date of Patent: April 21, 1998Assignee: Madison Star, LLCInventor: Paule Stern

Patent number: 5715846Abstract: A hair curler which exhibits a winding member with an increasable diameter using a flag-shaped length is rolled up together with a lock of hair providing after each turn a winding member with an increased diameter depending on the thickness of the flag-shaped length and the lock of hair in-between. The number of turns can be chosen in line with a user's hair length and the desired hair curler diameter. The flag-shaped length is rolled onto the winding member together with a lock of hair increasing the winding member diameter depending on the length of the flag-shaped length and the number of turns rolled onto the winding member. Good retaining force of the curler is achieved by use of a self-gripping tape having projecting hooks, pins or bristles, which are preferably formed by cut-open loops of a nylon monofilament, thus resulting in hooks. The hooks may be deformed to mushroom-like bristles by heat process.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 1995Date of Patent: February 10, 1998Assignee: Georg WiegnerInventor: Hyeong Sook Kim

Patent number: 5711324Abstract: A hair drying curler apparatus (10) for curling and drying a lock of hair is disclosed having a tubular roller (11) and a retaining clip (12). The roller has a tubular support (14), a moisture permeable inner cover material (15) joined to a moisture permeable outer cover material (16), and a mass of hair drying expediting material (18) positioned between the inner and outer cover materials. The outer cover material is quilted to form a linear array of generally axially aligned, annular channels (22) containing the expediting material. Similarly, the retaining clip has a support (26), a moisture permeable inner cover material (27) joined to a moisture permeable outer cover material (28), and a mass of hair drying expediting material (30) positioned between the inner and outer cover material. The outer cover material is quilted to form a linear array of arcuate channels (33) containing the expediting material.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1996Date of Patent: January 27, 1998Assignee: Johnson Research & Development Co., Inc.Inventors: Lonnie G. Patent number: 5694955Abstract: A device is disclosed for curling and managing hair. The device has a soft deformable core with two ends and a rolling surface. The rolling surface is adapted so that the user's hair may be wrapped around it. The device also has two protruding members, one protruding member extending from each end of the core. Preferably, the protruding members are pliable such that they may be releasibly interlocked to pinch the hair to the core. An envelope covers the core and the protruding members. Finally, ornamental members are attached to the protruding members using an attachment mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 1996Date of Patent: December 9, 1997Inventor: Coleen Grooms

Patent number: 5669398Abstract: A hair styling method utilizes an elongated flexible mold member having hollow end portions, two elongated rigid handle members each more than half the length of the mold member, with each of the elongated rigid handle members having an inner end portion and an outer handle end. The inner end portion of each of the elongated rigid handle members is inserted into a corresponding end portion of the mold member so that the elongated flexible mold member may then be bent into a generally U-shaped configuration and the handle ends of the elongated rigid handle members then occupy a generally parallel relationship in close proximity to each other. The outer handle ends of the elongated handle members have an interfitting relationship so that they may be placed in that interfitting relationship and thereby draw the outer end portions of the flexible mold towards each other.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 1996Date of Patent: September 23, 1997Assignees: Yassaman Dadgostar, Houshang DadgostarInventor: Yassaman A.
