Abstract: A hair styling aid for curling hair is described, including a housing, guide means comprising a slot in a wall of the housing for receiving a length of hair to be styled, a rotatable element rotatable clockwise or anticlockwise relative to the housing and the guide means, to form curls, and a heated elongate member around which the length of hair is wound by the rotatable element, in use. The housing surrounds a part of the elongate member to form a chamber between the housing wall(s) and the elongate member, the housing extending from and being integral with a handle. The rotatable element is rotatable relative to or with the elongate member, having a predefined starting position to which it is automatically returned after use. The housing has a longitudinal axis and the slot is parallel with the longitudinal axis of the housing.

Abstract: A portable apparatus for the steam treatment of hair includes a liquid tank, and a device for supplying a steam generator with liquid having a vaporisation chamber in thermal contact with an electric heating member, the vaporisation chamber communicating with one or more openings for dispensing steam towards a lock of hair. The generator is supplied with liquid by an electric pump, and the flow rate of the steam thus generated is higher than 5 g/min, and preferably of between 10 g/min and 60 g/min.

Abstract: An expandable curler is provided to facilitate hair winding, because strain imparted by the curler to the hairs no longer depends on the strain applied by the operator during winding and where possible differences in strain caused by humidity or by drying are compensated by the curler, which consequently expands or contracts itself. The curler includes a body split in two or more rigid longitudinal sectors forming together a winding surface to receive an amount of wound hairs in a contracted configuration. Locking members of the sectors are also included in the contracted configuration and an elastic member, housed inside said sectors, are configured to apply a predetermined elastic force on said sectors, expanding the winding surface and determining a strain state at the wound hairs until reaching a balance between inner elastic force and strain applied to the wound hairs, when the locking members are deactivated.

Such apparatus for separating hair includes a hair separator member manufactured from a predetermined material and having a predetermined shape and a predetermined size. Such hair separator member has a first substantially pointed outer end and a second end. Such second end of such hair separator member is releasably connectable to such first free end of such curling iron. A securing mechanism secures such second end of such hair separator member to such first free end of such curling iron.

Abstract: A contractile handle containing a longitudinal slot and a flexible grip is described. By the use of this handle heated hair curler rollers may be individually removed from a vat of boiling curling solution, strands of hair easily rolled around each roller, the handle removed and the process repeated the desired number of times. When all the rollers have cooled and dried, the handle is again used to unwind and remove the rollers one at a time. The now-curled strands then are lightly combed to combine individual curls.

Abstract: A brush used for curling hair and a method of using same is disclosed. The brush includes a brush cartridge and a handle. The brush cartridge includes an adapter which may be removably connected to the handle. The method includes the steps of: (1) providing a brush having a handle and a brush cartridge, the brush cartridge having an adapter connected to one of its ends, the adapter permitting the brush cartridge and the handle to be removably connected to one another; (2) rolling a group of hair to be curled around the brush cartridge; (3) directing heat at the group of rolled-up hair and the brush cartridge to dry the group of rolled-up hair and to heat the brush cartridge; and, (4) detaching the handle from the brush cartridge. The present invention adapts different size brush ends to one handle for use as a set or individually to style a portion or an entire head of hair.

Abstract: Hot air hair curling apparatus (1) has a motor-driven hair curler body (2, 2') which is provided with retractable radially arranged teeth (3). The hair curler body (2, 2') is mounted with the apparatus (1) so as to be axially detachable by means of a clutch (4, 5) which can be provided as a catch clutch (5') or as a permanent magnet clutch (5), as desired. The hair curler body (2, 2') is connected with a shaft (24) axially at one end for high mechanical stability, which shaft (24) engages with a first and second bearing (16, 17). The shaft and remaining portion of the hair curler body are hollow and the shaft is provided with elongated throughgoing holes between the bearings so that heated air can flow into the hair curler body. The first bearing is larger than the second bearing which is closest to the motor. Accordingly, it is possible to exchange, clean or disinfect the hair curler body (2, 2') in a simple manner.
