Abstract: A high temperature externally heated hair-styling device is provided which has a hair-styling body. An over-temperature alarm is mounted in the hair-styling body. The over-temperature alarm has a temperature sensor which is thermally connected to the hair-styling body. The sensor provides a voltage signal representative of the temperature of the hair-styling body. A variable reference voltage signal generator is powered by a DC battery power source. The reference signal generator has an adjustable range and the reference voltage signal is calibrated to coincide with a predefined operating temperature range. A comparative device comparing the representative and reference voltage signals is used to determine when the predefined operating temperature range is exceeded. An indicator device responsive to the comparative device is used to indicate a temperature of the hair-styling body exceeding the predefined operating temperature range of the hair-styling body.

Abstract: A hair braiding tool for fusing the end of a braid of synthetic fibers includes a first elongated member having at least one substantially semi-cylindrical transverse groove formed in a surface thereof with the groove having an open end and a closed end and a second elongated member pivotally connected to the first elongated member and having at least one substantially semi-cylindrical transverse groove formed in a surface thereof with the groove having an open end and a closed end. Upon bringing the first and second members into engagement with each other, the semi-cylindrical grooves therein mate with each other to define a cylindrical passage having an open end and a closed end for receiving a braid end therein. An electrical heating element is disposed in contact with the closed end of the cylindrical passage for trimming and fusing the braid end.

Abstract: A closed cosmetic container (10) including a base cosmetic container (10B) having an applicator cap (10A-1) mounted thereon, a rod and brush assembly (10A) comprising a heat facilitating strip (90) located in the interior of an applicator rod (10A-2), and a heat facilitating strip (40) located between an interior wall (45) and an exterior wall (20) of the base cosmetic container (10B). With the cosmetic container (10) closed, that is with the applicator cap (10A-1), rod and brush assembly (10A) secured in place on top of the base cosmetic container (10B), and with the heat facilitating strips (90 & 40) activated, a heatable 10 cosmetic substance (150) inside a cosmetic holding area (55) of the base cosmetic container (10B) blends together dissolving any clogged or hardened cosmetic material.

Abstract: A travelling hair drying, curling, and styling apparatus comprised of a battery powered hollow cylindrical housing having an indented upper end. The indented upper end has a pair of electric prongs extending upwardly therethrough. The device includes a plurality of hair styling attachments. Each of the attachments has a pair of apertures in a lower end thereof for receipt of the pair of electric prongs therein when the lower end of the attachment is coupled with the indented upper end of the housing.

Abstract: A spherical hair styling device and method for using same are provided to enable a user to obtain a helical curl having a continuum of varying diameters within each lock of curled hair. This varying diameter helix provides a new and distinct look for the curled hair. The spherical hair styling device may include either a curling iron or hairbrush having a spherical head. The spherical configuration of the curling iron provides for less wasted space on the curling iron, and allows the curling iron to be more completely utilized for each respective lock of hair which is curled.

Abstract: A ceiling or wall mounted hair styling unit supplies a user controlled volume of hot and cold air through an extendable, hollow-armed delivery tube to an adjustable nozzle leaving the user's hands free to manipulate hair styling tools. The user controls the amount of heat and volume of air with a wireless, remote control contained in the handle of a hair brush or within a foot operated, wireless signaling device, leaving both hands free to maximize artistic styling potential.

Abstract: A device and method for destroying parasites present in a mass of hair or fur growing from a skin surface, the device being composed of a handling body adapted to be gripped by a user; a comb fixed to the body and composed of a plurality of teeth, the teeth having portions adapted to be displaced through the mass of hair or fur when the device is in use; and a source of energy for at least locally raising the temperature of the hair or fur when the teeth are displaced through the mass of hair or fur, wherein at least part of the portions of the teeth are thermally conductive and are operatively associated with a source of energy for supplying sufficient heat energy to destroy parasites on the hair or fur which is in contact with the portions.

Abstract: A hairdressing device comprises a hand held unit, a blower assembly, a hose and a warm-air line. The hand held unit includes a cylindrical hair roller defining an axis of rotation and having a plurality of openings, a motor for rotatably driving the hair roller about its axis of rotation, and a nozzle through which air is blown against the hair roller in a direction perpendicular to the hair roller axis of rotation. The blower assembly includes a blower housing and a blower including a motor disposed in the blower housing. The hose connects the hand held unit to the blower such that air is drawn by the blower through the plurality of openings in the hair roller, the hose and into the housing, from which the drawn air exits. The warm-air line connects the hand held unit to the blower housing, such that air aspirated by the blower to cool the blower motor is delivered as warm-air through the warm-air line to the nozzle.

Abstract: A hairdressing kit combining a hair heating function with a haircurling function includes a hair dryer having a cylindrical air blower, cylindrical hair curlers, receivers for receiving the air blower of the hair dryer and the curlers detachably, and a casing body of an adiabatic structure through which the blower receiver communicates with the curler receivers.

Abstract: A device to shape human hair whereby possibly pre-moistened hair is wound up in strands on curlers onto which a liquid or consistent permanent waving product is applied and processed with heat energy added to the hair curlers for a predetermined time. The permanent reshaping product is then rinsed and possibly after an additional treatment with liquid neutralizer and rinsing of the same, the curlers will be removed from the hair. After winding of the hair strands and application of the permanent waving preparation, the curlers are heated by a short-time application of energy to a predetermined temperature. The heat stored by the curlers will then be transferred from the curlers to the hair curls treated with the permanent waving preparation.

Abstract: A method for lengthening of normal hair includes the preparation of filaments which match the color of the normal hair, the attachment of the filaments to the normal hair by braiding the filaments with portions of normal hair, wrapping the braids with portions of filaments and applying a heat hardenable sealer to the wrapped braid. Heat is applied to the wrapped braid using an apparatus which includes a pair of tip members which are adapted for mounting on the arms of a conventional heated curling iron. The tip members include pointed portions and opposing flat surfaces which facilitate the application of heat to limited and selected areas.

Abstract: A hair appliance has a hair winding portion extending axially from the end of a handle covered by a flexible sleeve member adapted to be depressed in order to activate a movable part of the hair appliance. The hair appliance is of relatively uniform cross-section along its length and in the case of a curling iron provided with a hair retaining clip biased adjacent the barrel of the curling iron, the clip is provided with a longitudinal extension aligned with the body of the clip, with the extension overlying a recess in the handle and under the flexible sleeve member. The clip is opened by squeezing or depressing the flexible sleeve member to move the extension into the recess. In the case of a curling brush having a rotatable barrel, a similar construction results in the barrel locking mechanism being situated under the flexible sleeve member so that depression of the latter operates the locking mechanism.
