The inventive device includes a shaft having a spiked end, a hook secured to the upper end of the shaft, and a pair of first prongs secured to the lower portion of the shaft. The first prongs are comprised of a bendable material for allowing adjustment of the angle with respect to the shaft. If the invention is utilized within light soil, sand or gravel, the first prongs are preferably extended at a significant angle with respect to the shaft. If the invention is utilized within heavy soil, the first prongs are preferably parallel to or slightly extended from the shaft. In an alternative embodiment, a pair of second prongs are attached to the shaft in addition to the first prongs for increasing the gripping within the soil surface.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 1999Date of Patent: July 10, 2001Inventor: Michael A. Patent number: 6250320Abstract: A protective cover assembly which includes a lightweight square or rectangular cover fabricated of a breathable type water resistant fabric or solar screen material, having a metal grommet installed into each corner. The assembly also includes four hollow tubular support poles that each have a top-mounted flange to keep the grommet in position, with each pole further including a pivoting two-sided toggle which would prevent the grommet from slipping off the pole after installation. The assembly also includes four solid steel ground spikes that each have a top-mounted bar with a spring-loaded lock tab and a side-mounted spike drive flange. Each spike driver flange would be used to hammer a spike into the ground and could also serve to aid in removing the spikes with the claw of the hammer. Each of the corner poles would fit snuggly over the top-mounted bar that is located on the top of each spike, and each locking tab would removably connect with a hole in the side of the pole.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 1999Date of Patent: June 26, 2001Inventor: Ronald Roth

Patent number: 6082157Abstract: A combination safe and umbrella stand for securely storing valuables and other items therein and vertically supporting a beach umbrella. The combination safe and umbrella stand includes a container with a top opening therein. A lid substantially closes the top opening of the container. A rod is extended through the holes in the lid and container to prevent removal of the lid from the container without removal of the rod. One of the ends of the rod has a stop coupled thereto. The rod has a transverse bore therethrough adjacent the other of the ends of the rod. An auger is downwardly extended from the bottom wall of the container. A pair of spaced apart brackets for supporting a pole of an umbrella are outwardly extended from the perimeter side wall of the container.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 1999Date of Patent: July 4, 2000Inventor: Stuart T. Patent number: 5992435Abstract: A stake assembly includes a spike having a first end and a second end defining a longitudinal axis of the stake. A flange is connected at the second end of the spike and extends laterally therefrom, the upper surface of the flange forming the axially and extremity of the second end of the spike. A receptacle is recessed axially into the flange and second end of the spike. A resilient fastening member, such as a coiled spring, has a first end connected in the receptacle between the flange and the first end of the spike and a second end extending out of the receptacle beyond the upper surface of the flange. A tether or leash may be fastened to the second end of the resilient fastening member.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 1997Date of Patent: November 30, 1999Assignee: BS&B Safety Systems, Inc.Inventors: Gary R.
