  • Patent number: 8082944
Abstract: A base assembly, including wheels, is attachable to the bottom of a hose reel enclosure. This assembly enables the hose reel enclosure to pivot about a vertical axis. This pivotal movement of the hose reel enclosure permits a hose to be withdrawn from and wound back onto the hose reel in the enclosure while remaining substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the hose reel. This also enables a hose to be taken up evenly onto the hose reel and played out from the hose reel without tipping over the hose reel enclosure. In one embodiment, the base assembly is attached to the bottom of a hose reel enclosure. Two wheels are mounted at one end portion of the assembly and a stake is positioned in a member mounted between the end portions of the base assembly. The stake is driven into the ground below the hose reel enclosure.

Abstract: A winding unit for an air tube provided to a blood pressure monitor includes a reel body rotatably supported by a case body, and a helical spring that biases the reel body in the direction in which the air tube is wound. The air tube includes a wound portion wound by the reel body, a fixed portion immovably fixed to the case body, and a freely movable portion that freely moves as the reel body rotates. The reel body has a housing containing the freely movable portion. A second free-movement end is disposed at an eccentric position relative to a rotational center of the reel body. The winding unit is thus configured to prevent bending of the air tube in the winding unit and to be downsized.

Abstract: A reel assembly comprises a spool member configured to rotate about a spooling axis to wind or unwind a linear material. The spool member is also configured to rotate about a reciprocation axis that is substantially perpendicular to the spooling axis. A housing substantially encloses the spool member and comprises first and second housing portions that are rotatable with respect to one another about the reciprocation axis. The first housing portion defines an aperture configured to receive the linear material therethrough. A rotating member is configured to rotate when the spool member rotates about the spooling axis. The rotating member is mechanically linked with respect to the first housing portion via one or more intervening components, such that each revolution of the rotating member produces one cycle of relative reciprocating rotation between the spool member and the first housing portion about the reciprocation axis.

The clip assembly is structured to be operated without the use of tools. The clip assembly, essentially, prevents the inlet conduit assembly from being moved axially once installed. In this configuration, a user may quickly and easily actuate the clip assembly to release or engage the inlet conduit assembly. Thus, a user may quickly and easily remove the inlet conduit assembly.

Abstract: The present invention relates to hose reel carts for handling and storage of flexible hoses, such as garden or air hoses. The hose reel cart is primarily constructed of plastic components having a centrally rotatable spool for winding of the flexible hose, a frame for supporting the spool and a multi-position crank arm assembly allowing the consumer to place the crank handle in a lowered position or a raised position. The crank remotely drives the spool, for winding the hose, through a series of gears located within the crank arm assembly. The device may further include a reciprocating guide assembly that operates during rotation of the spool to rewind the hose into a compact configuration.

Abstract: A hose reel guide device including a base, a housing structure, a static shaft, a guide wheel, a tracker body, and a roller assembly. The base includes a static shaft mounted on a housing structure which is capable of pivoting on the base. The guide wheel is adapted to circumferentially engage a portion of the static shaft and also adapted to receive a hose. The guide wheel is configured to oscillate about the static shaft as the guide wheel translates from end to end on the static shaft, when a moving hose passes therethrough. The tracker body is mounted about the guide wheel to cooperatively move along the shaft with the guide wheel and includes a channel adapted to receive a portion of the hose. The roller assembly is positioned offset the axis of rotation of the guide wheel to maintain greater surface contact between the hose and the guide wheel so as to provide less opportunity for the hose to “jump”/skip/flail on the guide wheel and negligible drag on the hose.
