Varying Effective Lever Arm Patents (Class 137/531)
  • Patent number: 8479764
Abstract: The invention relates to a safety valve (1) with an inlet (2) and an outlet (3) and a closing element (4) which seals the inlet (2) and moves under overpressure, thus opening a way from the inlet (2) to the outlet (3), wherein the closing element (4) is connected by at least one arm (5) to at least one spring element (6), against the force of which the closing element (4) moves during opening. According to the invention an arm (5) is provided, which connects closing element (4) and spring element (6), wherein the arm (5) is swivel-mounted respectively about an axis (7, 8) on the closing element (4) and on the spring element (6) and is rotatable around a further axis (9) arranged between the cited axes (7, 8) and is longitudinally displaceable with respect thereto, whereby an optimal adjustment of a spring force with respect to forces acting on the closing element (4) is given.

  • Patent number: 6391019
Abstract: A valve apparatus of a valve system includes a long-sized elastic member a base end portion of which is fixed and a front end portion of which is brought into contact with a valve element and a movable member capable of moving in B1 and B2 directions actually linearly along a longitudinal direction B of the elastic member between both end portions of the elastic member and having a fulcrum portion for flexing the elastic member in C direction between the both end portions of the elastic member. The movable member is constituted by a slider linearly moved in accordance with a mover of a linear step motor element or rotation of a rotor of a rotary type step motor element.

  • Patent number: 6227239
Abstract: An automatically resetting safety valve for a generator circuit breaker is to open rapidly and wide, even if the pressure applied to a valve-closing body (1) does not increase substantially over a valve stroke (a) or even falls. In order to ensure this, a valve-closing-body joint (10) of the valve-closing body (1) via a first closing-body lever (H1) and via a first sliding joint (3), is connected in an articulated manner to a first support lever (H2), which is rotatably mounted in a first support lever joint (4) fastened to a lever wall (5). The first sliding joint (3), via a first compression spring (8), is in compressive connection with a spring wall joint (7) fastened to a spring wall (6). The valve-closing body (1) is movable along a plain-bearing axis (A). First and second closing-body levers (H1, H1′) and first and second support levers (H2, H2′), which are arranged in mirror image relative to the plain-bearing axis (A) of the valve-closing body (1), may be provided.

  • Patent number: 5205311
Abstract: A spill valve assembly is mounted to a flanged opening atop a liquid cargo tank of a barge. A valve disk normally closing an aperture in the assembly is maintained closed by a combination of pivoting lever arms. A self-centering post assembly atop the valve disk is held down by a valve retaining lever arm pivotally mounted on a horizontal axis horizontally spaced from the post assembly. When the pressure in the tank rises to the limit established by the valve setting, it moves the valve retaining lever arm sufficiently to tip a control lever arm connected to it and which moves in a way which facilitates further and more rapid pivoting of the retaining arm to thereby permit the spill valve to open freely and relieve the pressure in the tank. Balance weight adjustment means are provided to facilitate adjustment of spill setpoint pressures. A convenient field test of setpoint is provided.

  • Patent number: 5046525
Abstract: A differential loading fluid check valve, including a unitized valve body having a single service port in its sidewall for selective access to the interior chamber of the check valve. Check valve subassemblies are installed and removed through the service port for valve assembly and service. The same valve body can be configured for either single or double check valve operation by adding or removing check valve subassemblies. Each check valve subassembly includes a base with an aperture, a pivotally mounted clapper, and an overlying pivotally mounted cam arm, spring biased against the movable end of the clapper. An arcuate surface on the cam arm is engaged by the clapper as it moves from a closed position to an open position, providing a beneficial differential reduction in the pressure drop, or loading, through the check valve.

  • Patent number: 4687022
Abstract: A pressure relief valve and regulator in which the valve chamber has a side port for connecting to the pressure line to be monitored. The valve seat opens to an exhaust and has a diameter slightly larger than the chamber diameter. The valve incorporates a double ended piston, spring, and cam whereby the cam offsets the normal compression gradient of the spring by rotating as the piston moves in and out.

  • Patent number: 4384576
Abstract: A portable positive displacement respirator/ventilator is provided for both a pressure sigh and a volume sigh of predetermined duration and frequency by providing a variable length crank arm connecting a piston through a connecting rod by mounting the connecting rod on a circular toothed gear, pivoting the gear for movement at its center and driven on its outer edge with a separate motor driven pivot gear which when moved relocates the effective length of movement of the point of attachment of the connecting rod thereby changing the volume swept by the piston for the same arc of reciprocal movement of the larger circular toothed gear enabling both a volume change or a volume sigh with the device. A cooperating multiplicity of adjustable pressure regulating valves where at least one can be intermittently closed during the operation of the device regulates ventilation pressure or breathing pressure and sigh pressure.

  • Patent number: 4201242
Abstract: There is disclosed a pressure relief valve having a part which is movable to a first position for returning the closure member thereof to closed position, and thus resetting the valve, automatically in response to a predetermined low pressure level of fluid within the flowway, and to a second position which permits the closure member to move to open position automatically in response to a pressure level of the fluid to be contained which is less than that at which the valve is set to open.
