Spring In Inlet Patents (Class 137/541)
  • Patent number: 11585452
Abstract: A fuel nozzle metering valve that includes a spool having an inlet port and an outlet flow port, and a retainer assembled to one end of the spool. A valve liner houses a portion of the spool. The spool is configured to move back and forth within the valve liner. The metering valve is biased in a closed position in which the outlet flow port is disposed entirely within the valve liner. The valve is opened when the spool slides within the valve liner such that some portion of the outlet flow port extends beyond an end of the valve liner. The retainer has a stepped portion configured to abut an end of the retainer at a fuel flow pressure below the expected maximum fuel flow pressure to be used in the fuel nozzle metering valve.

Abstract: A variable performance valve for use in a fuel nozzle is presented. The valve includes a spring, an inner spool having a port, an outer sleeve, and an orifice, which in a fuel nozzle application may be a calibration orifice. In a low flow condition, the inlet to downstream pressure is the spring force divided by the area on which the pressure acts. At low flow the orifice does not cause any appreciable pressure drop. As the flow increases, a pressure drop develops across the orifice. Since the pressure drop across the valve cannot be greater than the spring force divided by valve area, the valve is forced to open to compensate. As flow is increased, the valve will stroke completely open and the pressure drop at the port becomes negligible and the pressure drop across the orifice is nearly 100% of the pressure drop across the valve.

  • Patent number: 7128088
Abstract: A backflow assembly including a housing with a passage having at least one check valve positioned therein to permit fluid flow in one direction while preventing fluid flow in the reverse direction. The check valve includes a valve head connected to a stem having an outer surface. A hump extends radially outward from the outer surface of the stem. The stem is guided by a bushing during opening and closing of the valve. The bushing includes at least one retention member that moves along the outer surface of the stem during opening and closing of the valve. The interaction between the retention member and the hump on the outer surface of the stem causes a higher friction loss during opening and closing of the valve than other portions of the outer surface.

Abstract: A valve device includes a housing including a peripheral valve seat extended into a chamber, to separate the chamber into two separated spaces. A valve member includes an outer peripheral groove to receive a sealing ring for engaging with the peripheral valve seat of the housing, to make a seal between the valve member and the peripheral valve seat, and a casing is secured to the valve member. A spring member may bias the casing away from the peripheral valve seat, to force the sealing ring of the valve member against the peripheral valve seat, and to make a fluid tight seal between the valve member and the peripheral valve seat.

  • Patent number: 7036523
Abstract: Within a check valve, a spring urges a poppet into the closed position. If the fluid flow through the valve attempts to reverse, the poppet will seal against the valve seat by a combination of spring resistance and fluid pressure, thereby preventing all or a significant portion of fluid flow back through the valve body. The poppet is retained in the valve body by a retainer or other suitable part or combination of parts that can be removed for service of the check valve assembly.

  • Patent number: 6923202
Abstract: A pressure relief valve having a modular design that allows the release pressure of the valve to be altered during assembly is provided by the present invention. The valve includes a serrated valve tube that fits inside of a valve body. A spring retainer ring fits on an outside diameter of the serrated valve tube such that it is held in position by interacting with the serrations. The release pressure of the valve is altered by changing the position of the spring retainer ring on the serrations. In addition, a variety of different spring types and configurations can be utilized in conjunction with the spring retainer ring position to select one of a large number of different release pressures for the valve during assembly.

  • Patent number: 6835053
Abstract: In the check valve having a valve seat member and the valve member, the valve seat member is provided with first and second conical seats. The second conical seat is positioned upstream the first conical seat. An angle of the second conical seat to an axis of the valve member is more acute than that of the first conical seat. Since the check valve has the second conical seat, contact pressure applied to the first conical seat is uniformly dispersed and, thus, the first conical seat is less worn out. Further, the second conical seat prevents the valve member from cutting into and sticking to the valve seat member, even if the wear has been progressed. Accordingly, an operation of the check valve is stable for a longer period of time.
