Abstract: A faucet 10 includes a brass support 42 mounted in a precise location in a housing 12 of the faucet. A slot 60 is formed in the brass support and receives a tab 64 of a color code ring 36 as the ring is positioned on top of a tower 18 of the housing 12 to properly locate the ring relative to the housing and to preclude rotation relative thereto. A shroud cover 19 is secured to the brass support 42 above the ring 60 to capture the ring between the cover and the top of the tower 18 and thereby preclude axial movement of the ring. Exterior surfaces 38 and 40 of the fixed ring 36 are formed with contrasting colors, such as "red" and "blue," which are clearly visible on opposite sides of the faucet 10. A handle 20 of the faucet 10 is located above the shroud cover 19 and is mounted for movement relative to the housing 12, the color code ring 36 and the shroud cover.

  • Patent number: 5168896
Abstract: A valve operating mechanism produces a rotating force for causing a valve body of the valve to shift relative to a valve seat thereof, so that the valve is opened and closed. A piston of the mechanism produces a rectilinear reciprocating force. A screw member is supported moveably along the rectilinear line and unrotatably in the housing and includes a pair of pawls helically projecting along the rectilinear line and a helical interval space defined between the helical pawls. A pivot is inserted into the helical interval space. A cylindrical rotating member is supported rotatably and unmoveably along the rectilinear line in the housing so as to surround the screw member. When the screw member receives the rectilinear reciprocating force to perform the reciprocating motion along the rectilinear line, the pivot is urged to rotate along the helical interval space in the rectilinearly unmoved state, and the cylindrical rotating member can rotate with the pivot.

The adaptor sleeve has an externally threaded part, and a fixed housing supported on the sleeve to permit relative rotation of the sleeve and enclosing the threaded part. A follower is threadably engaged with the threaded part and keyed to the housing. An alarm generator, and activating arrangement are supported on the housing and provide an activating connection between the alarm generator and the follower to initiate an alarm.

Abstract: A ram-type blowout preventer having a removable seal insert contained in an insert cavity formed in the forward end of the ram body. Each seal insert includes an elastomeric body which forms an inner seal portion having a forward seal face and two outer seal portions which extend laterally into slot openings in the ram body. In each seal face is set a rigid cup which defines a cup-shaped cavity. When the rams are brought together to close the valve the two cups join together rim-to-rim to form a grease chamber between the seal forces.

  • Patent number: 4545406
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for indicating the position of a hydraulically actuated device by measuring the volume of hydraulic fluid flow in and out of the hydraulic actuator together with separate measurement corrections to compensate for the hydraulic system elasticity and transient flows and for the mechanical clearance or slop in the linkage between the actuator and the device. In a preferred embodiment of the method, the compensation for hydraulic system elasticity and transient flows is preferably made by measuring the relaxation reverse flow when the actuator is depressurized and using this measurement to offset an equal amount of the measured forward flow when the actuator is repressurized in the same direction. Further, the compensation for mechanical clearance in the linkage between the actuator and the device is applied only when the actuator direction is reversed; the amount of such compensation is empirically determined and may increase with wear and tear on the linkage.

Abstract: There is disclosed an apparatus for manually locking a pilot valve in an "in service" position independent of an actuating, or pilot fluid pressure. The apparatus may be either manually disengaged or will be automatically disengaged whenever the ambient temperature exceeds a predetermined level. The device includes a valve manipulating knob attached to the exterior end of a valving element for manually shifting the element from a normally closed position to the in service position. The knob includes an "L" shaped locking member which conforms to the contour of the knob, and is adapted to pivot towards the valve body and lock the valving element out in the "in service" position. This pivotal member includes an indicating surface visible from the front when the valving element is locked in an "in service" position. The locking member is comprised of a fusible material selected to yield at a predetermined temperature so as to return the valve to an operating mode responsive to the pilot fluid pressure.
