Sequentially Closing And Opening Alternately Seating Flow Controllers Patents (Class 137/627.5)
  • Patent number: 6364431
Abstract: An electromagnetic valve has a plunger as an armature of an electromagnetic actuator and a ball as a movable valve member. The plunger and the ball are separated to permit the ball to move freely in response to a pressure difference between an inlet and an outlet when the coil attracts the plunger. If the plunger undesirably moves by a pressure difference between both ends of the plunger, the ball can keep a closing condition during a suction pressure that is higher than a pressure in the inlet. Therefore, an undesired communication between a master reservoir and a pump is avoided.

  • Patent number: 6354617
Abstract: The invention relates to a level control arrangement for vehicles having air springs (6a) to (6d) and a pneumatically controllable directional valve (26). A residual pressure holding function and an overpressure function are integrated into the directional valve (26). The directional valve (26) is controlled by the air pressure in the air springs (6a) to (6d). The air pressure can be applied via a control line (20) to a control input (24) of the directional valve (26). The air from the air springs (6a) to (6d) is released with the aid of the venting line (28). The venting line (28) is guided separately from the control line (20) through the directional valve (26). In this way, a large air flow can be conducted through the venting line (28) without the static air pressure in the control space (50) of the directional valve (26) being reduced. The venting line is blocked by a stepped piston (44) of the directional valve when no air is to be released from the air springs.

Abstract: A valve assembly includes a valve with a bobbin/valve body, a solenoid and a plunger. The bobbin/valve body is formed in one piece, and defines all of the valve's inlet/outlet ports and forms the entire support structure for the solenoid and the plunger. The valve may be connected to a manifold by press-fitting port nipples of the valve into corresponding channels in the manifold. The manifold is formed of a resilient, elastomeric material, and the port nipples include radial projecting barbs, which enable the valve to be fluidly-connected to the manifold without additional O-ring seals or other mechanical sealing devices. Fittings with barbs can likewise be press-fit in other channels of the manifold to connect the valve assembly with fluid lines or other components in the fluid system. The fittings can also be provided unitary with the manifold, and/or adhesively attached to the manifold and/or to the fluid lines and other components.

  • Patent number: 6263913
Abstract: The hydraulic multiway valve comprises a control piston (main piston 3), which is displaceable against the force of a spring (main spring 18) by the plunger of a magnet (12) from its first position (closing position) to its second position (opening position). In the closing position, a pressure chamber (7) with a pump connection (P) is closed toward a consumer chamber (8), and the consumer chamber with a consumer (A) is opened toward a return flow chamber (20) and a reservoir connection (R). In the opening position, the consumer chamber (8) is closed toward the return flow chamber (20). To this end, the consumer chamber (8) and the return flow chamber (20) are arranged at the opposite ends of the main piston (3), namely the consumer chamber (8) on the side facing the magnet, and the return flow chamber (20) on the side facing away therefrom. A central channel (21) extends through the main piston. The central channel interconnects the consumer chamber (8) and the return flow chamber (20).

  • Patent number: 6238013
Abstract: A contaminant-ejecting relay valve for a pneumatic brake system is disclosed. Two embodiments of the valve are disclosed: in one embodiment, the valve is actuated by pilot air pressure, which is either supply air pressure or control air pressure; in another embodiment, the valve is solenoid-actuated. In both embodiments, the valve comprises a housing enclosing a chamber; a control port in the housing in fluid communication with the chamber; an exhaust port in the housing permitting removal of contaminants from the chamber; a main piston mounted within the chamber and movable between a first position and a second position; an exhaust passage through the main piston connecting the chamber and the exhaust port in fluid communication; and a blocking member movable between an open and closed position for opening and closing the exhaust passage, such that when the blocking member is in the open position it permits pressurized air from the control port to eject contaminants from the chamber.

  • Patent number: 6231321
Abstract: This invention pertains to an air compressor having a cylinder head with an air supply passage communicating with a discharge hole. First and second exhaust passages are arranged in parallel between the air supply passage and an exhaust port. A pilot-operated switching valve is located at an intermediate position in the first exhaust passage. A solenoid-operated exhaust valve is located at an intermediate position in the second exhaust passage. The solenoid-operated exhaust valve is selectively opened or closed by an externally supplied electric current, thereby controlling a pilot pressure applied to a valving element of the pilot-operated switching valve. The valving element is rested on or separated from a valve seat by the pilot pressure. The compressed air discharge speed can be increased without increasing the size of the cylinder head, and vehicle height adjustment, for example, can be made in a reduced period of time.

  • Patent number: 6209565
Abstract: A pulse piloted cartridge valve that defaults to a closed position. A spring biases against a latching piston assembly within the valve to position the latching piston assembly to the closed position. In this position, a supply port is sealed off from a control port. Pressurized fluid may be provided in a pilot open chamber to move the pilot open piston downward on the upper stem of the latching piston assembly to push the latching piston assembly to an open position. When in the open position, the passageway from the control port to the supply port is opened as well as the passageway from the control port to the axial passageway. Pressure is then transferred from the supply port through the axial passageway to the latching chamber. The pilot open piston is raised by pressure from the axial passageway. The latching piston assembly is held in the open position with pressure within the latching chamber.

  • Patent number: 6202698
Abstract: This disclosure sets forth a diaphragm valve operative with N ports deployed in an upper head. The ports all connect to a diaphragm having a bead defining a flow path around the diaphragm connecting all the ports. In the cylinder below the upper head, there are upper and lower pistons which are forced apart to define a fluid receiving chamber. The fluid receiving chamber is enlarged on the introduction of fluid above a certain pressure thereby raising half of the piston rods bearing against the diaphragm and reduction of fluid pressure in the chamber lowers those push rods and raises an alternate set of push rods to accomplish diaphragm switching by deformation of the resilient material defining the diaphragm.

  • Patent number: 6199533
Abstract: A three-way fuel injection control valve assembly is provided which includes a pilot valve for controlling the movement of a drain valve member and a separate supply valve member to minimize valve response time and transition flow losses. The solenoid operated two-way pilot valve controls the flow of fuel from a control volume formed adjacent the ends of the drain valve member and the supply valve member to begin and end an injection event. A transition flow loss limiting feature is provided which causes the drain valve member to close prior to the opening of the supply valve member and subsequently causes the supply valve member to close prior to the opening of the drain valve member during a given injection event thereby minimizing transition flow losses.
