  • Patent number: 10364634
Abstract: A hydraulic jar for delivering impacts downhole. The jarring mechanism includes a cup-type piston that moves through a seal bore. The cup is deformable in response to fluid pressure so that it expands each time it moves through the seal bore to compensate for wear on the lip. Since only minimum interference is required between the piston and seal bore, less material may be used. This reduces the force required to reset the tool, which is particularly advantageous in horizontal wells. The seal bore may be slightly wider at the exit; the cup expands to this exit diameter, ensuring an interference fit as the cup travels back through the smaller diameter entry section. The entry end of the seal bore may include longitudinal grooves. This prevents the piston cup from rupturing by preventing a fluid seal around the lip until the most of cup is inside the seal bore.

Abstract: A valve arrangement includes a valve body with a bore within which a spool slides to control fluid flow between first and second ports. The bore has an annular recess into which the first port opens and in which is located a check valve band formed by a strip with overlapping ends. Pressure in the first port causes the check valve band to contract and expand circumferentially to open and close the first port. A stop is located near one end of the strip and is engaged by the other end to limit the amount of contraction of the check valve band. Thus the diameter of the check valve band cannot contract smaller than the diameter of the bore, thereby retaining the check valve ring in the annular recess. The backflow inhibitor has a closing element, which, in a closed position thereof, lies tightly sealed on a valve seat of the cartridge housing and which may be displaced from the closed position against a return force into an open position. A downstream guide pin projects from the closing element, and extends into a guide opening of a central regulator core of the flow regulator, and the flow regulator is formed from a regulator element made from an elastic material that surrounds the regulator core, which rests on an annular shoulder and defines a control gap, which changes with pressure between the above and an opposing enclosing wall.

  • Patent number: 6820652
Abstract: A multi-channel valve having a valve seat, a valve seal, and valve seal housing. The assembly of the apparatus creates a plurality of inlet, exit, and cross channels enclosed by elastomeric portions of a valve seal. The elastomeric portions of the valve seal create bounded distensible chambers. Pressure exerted by a fluid in excess of the cracking pressure of the seal tends to distend portions of the elastomeric seal and allow flow through and into the chambers. When inflow pressure falls, the elastic rebound of the elastomeric portions of the seal tends to expel fluid from the valve without backflow. Cross channel capacity allows mixing of the fluids. The plurality of, and differentials between, chambers allows one fluid to completely purge the valve of other fluids. The valve may be configured with additional backflow prevention capacities, such as channel variations, secondary elastomeric members, and variations in primary membrane properties.

  • Patent number: 6695011
Abstract: A flow regulator (1) having a regulator housing (2) in which, in a flow channel, an annular flow restrictor (5) made of elastic material is provided that is pushed onto a fastening post (4) and encircles this post. The post (4) has at least two fastening webs (6), oriented opposite a direction in which the elastic material is pushed on, whose free ends engage the flow restrictor (5) from behind in a securing manner. The flow restrictor (5) limits, between itself and at least one fixed part of the housing, a control gap whose flow cross-section can be modified by the flow restrictor (5), which deforms under the pressure difference that arises during flow. In the flow regulator according to the present invention the fastening webs (6) are fashioned as resilient webs that can be flexibly inwardly deflected. The flow regulator (1) according to the present invention can be manufactured economically and with a low cost, and is distinguished by its high degree of functional reliability.

Abstract: The invention relates to a piston pump for a hydraulic slip-controlled vehicle brake system. The invention embodies the piston pump with a hollow piston, in whose circumferential wall one or more valve holes are made, which are covered by a bandlike valve closing body that is mounted on an inside of the circumferential wall of the piston. The invention has the advantage of a simple design of the inlet valve, and the inlet valve makes a small-sized, compact piston pump possible.

  • Patent number: 6173738
Abstract: In a pressure maintenance valve for pneumatic apparatus including a valve housing having inlet and outlet passages, a valve member is disposed in the housing and includes a membrane having at one side thereof an annular valve structure disposed opposite an annular valve seat which divides the space adjacent the membrane into inner and outer concentric chambers when the valve structure is seated on the valve seat. A valve spring is disposed at the other side of the membrane for biasing the membrane into engagement with the valve seat. One of the concentric chambers is in communication with the inlet passage and the other with the outlet passage, whereby the membrane is held in an open valve position as long as the pressure in the inlet and outlet passages is greater than a certain value but the membrane closes the valve to maintain the predetermined pressure in the outlet passage when the pressure falls below that certain value.

Abstract: A check valve comprising of an inlet body portion, an outlet body portion, and a resilient o-ring. The o-ring being the only moveable part is slightly stretched and sealingly contacts the exterior corner edges of an annular groove. The annular groove corner edges are concentrically aligned and of distinctly different diameters. The inside diameter area of the o-ring communicates with an inlet passage through radial holes. Inlet pressure forces the o-ring to "tilt" off of the larger diameter groove edge by pivoting on the smaller diameter groove edge, thereby allowing fluid to flow from the inlet passage to an outlet passage.

  • Patent number: 5695478
Abstract: Safety connector for infusion therapy for supplying several lines and having a casing (1) in which there is a chamber (4) that is bordered by an essentially cylindrical inside wall (5) of the casing into which several connecting channels (2) for joining infusion lines open and which has an outlet channel (9) for attaching an outlet line. The cylindrical outside wall of an elastic ring-shaped valve body is in contact with the inside wall (5) of casing (1) that surrounds chamber (4). The safety connector is simple and inexpensive and has an uncomplicated design. The cylindrical contact surfaces between the ring-shaped valve body and the cylindrical inside wall (5) surrounding chamber (4) result in a good seal for the non-return valves even at a low contact pressure. The sealing force can be determined even down to a very low pressure. Thus, for the first time a safety connector suitable for gravity infusion systems is available.
