  • Patent number: 4275761
Abstract: A mobile sprinkler propelled by water pressure has a bellows coupled with a ratchet drive, water being alternately admitted to the bellows under pressure via one conduit and discharged therefrom via another conduit forming part of a squeeze-duct assembly. The assembly includes a rigid housing against whose sidewalls the two conduits are alternately flattened by a rotating valve body coupled with the ratchet drive, each conduit being of substantially O-shaped cross-section in its uncompressed state and consisting of a relatively thick-walled inner tube of elastomeric material, a relatively thin-walled intermediate tube of flexible synthetic-resin fabric and a relatively thin-walled outer tube also made of elastomeric material.

  • Patent number: 4227544
Abstract: A fire hydrant having a generally elbow-shaped hydrant shoe with an improved interior bowl configuration and an improved hydrant valve for minimizing head or flow loss of the fire hydrant between the inlet opening of the shoe and the outlet nozzle positioned on the upper portion of the hydrant barrel. The interior bowl of the shoe, adjacent its inlet, is provided with a diverging transitional surface of rotation having a generally part frusto conical shape and, adjacent its outlet, is provided with a converging transitional surface of rotation having a generally part frusto conical shape, the transitional surfaces of rotation merging with the shoe's part spherical chamber.

  • Patent number: 4218812
Abstract: Method and means of rapidly repairing damaged portions of conduits and pipes which are difficult or impossible to weld, whereby in the vicinity of the pipes to be maintained prepared replacement pipe sections are stored each together with two associated quick-action unions which comprise an annular coupling body bridging the pipe ends to be joined and having at least one threaded portion and a sealing insert which may be compressed by means of plugs adapted to be screwed into the threaded portion, and after cutting out a portion of the pipe which includes the damaged area and the length of which corresponds substantially to the length of the prepared replacement pipe section the latter is inserted into the pipe line and sealed by rightening and quick-action.

  • Patent number: 4197922
Abstract: An air intake pipe, for mounting to the air filter of an internal combustion engine has two air flow channels having different lengths. A duct is provided between the air flow channels connecting them over their entire length. The duct is dimensioned to provide both sound attenuation and acoustic wave interference between intake noises in the two channels. Thus, the intake pipe acts as an intake noise silencer.

  • Patent number: 4148343
Abstract: A blow plate and blow tube assembly. The blow tube conveys core-making sand from the blow plate to a cavity in a core box for forming a sand core utilized in metal casting. The blow plate has a discharge passage with female threads. The blow tube has a body portion and a tip portion for directing the sand from the blow plate into the core box. The body portion of the blow tube has male threads axially therealong and the blow tube is threaded into the passage in the blow plate and extends from the blow plate for engaging the core box. A nut is threaded onto the male threads of the body portion of the blow tube and is disposed between the blow plate and the core box. The blow tube is made of plastic material and includes a shoulder or sleeve portion between the male threads on the body portion and the conically-shaped tip portion. The conically-shaped tip portion has spaced annular ribs thereabout for forming seals with a conical seat in the core box.

  • Patent number: 4134430
Abstract: A high pressure fuel injection pipe is produced by squeezing an end portion of a small-diametered steel pipe member having a flow path extending through the center thereof to form a flow path of reduced diameter in the end portion communicating with the central flow path, pressing and plastically shaping the end portion into a frusto-conical or arcuate-surfaced connecting head, and grinding minute curve concavo-convex faces created in the inner surface of the flow path of reduced diameter during the plastic shaping to thereby form a flow path equal in diameter and communicating with the flow path in the small-diametered steel pipe member.

  • Patent number: 4091836
Abstract: A system comprising a plurality of reactors each of which is connected by a plurality of pipelines to each of a plurality of manifolds, each pipeline having a central pipelength curved in a circular arc of about 270.degree. and connected at its ends to two substantially straight pipelengths which are arranged at a right angle with respect to each other, said reactors being arranged in at least one row, with said manifolds situated parallel to this row and above the reactors, in such a way that the distance between two successive manifolds is larger than the largest diametrical dimension of a curved central pipelength.

  • Patent number: 4061354
Abstract: A motorcycle swingarm is shown in which each arm is an extrusion of lightweight metal which in cross-section is a diamond with a cross rib and integral upper and lower fins. The upper fin is the larger, and is shaped to taper from both ends. The arms are bent slightly intermediate their ends, and at one end have a sleeve bearing welded thereto. At such one end, arcuate plates are also located between the arms and welded to them. At their other ends, each arm is slotted to receive an oblong slotted block which is welded to the arm. Also, the arms intermediate their ends have tabs welded thereto for providing connection points for shock absorbers and chain tensioners.
