  • Patent number: 5460207
Abstract: A method and apparatus for filling of a dispensing container with a product to be dispensed, particularly useful for highly viscous products, in which the container has a vented dip tube structure which is inserted into the container before it is filled. Filling is accomplished by inserting a filling nozzle into the container so that it cooperates with the top of the dip tube. Filling of the container therefore occurs through the dip tube. The vent in the dip tube structure allows the air in the container to be vented as the container is filled. Because the container is filled through the dip tube, the product completely fills the dip tube at the time when the pump structure is inserted into the container. The vent structure can be used as a vent for the container during a dispensing operation as well.

  • Patent number: 5179982
Abstract: A liquid dispensing apparatus comprises a container having a peripheral sidewall, a bottom wall mounted at a lower end of the sidewall and a closure removably mounted to an upper end of the sidewall. A flexible tight plastic bag is mounted at an upper end thereof between the closure and the sidewall in order to hang in the container. The bag thus defines in the container a first and a second chamber which respectively contain the liquid to be dispensed and compressed air. A nozzle extends through the closure into the first chamber. A pressure regulating valve is mounted in the second chamber and defines therein an upper and a lower sub-chamber, with the bag being submitted to forces exerted by the compressed air contained in the upper sub-chamber. The pressure regulating valve ensures a constant pressure in the upper sub-chamber and thus on the bag, whereas the lower sub-chamber acts as a reservoir for the upper sub-chamber.

  • Patent number: 4545237
Abstract: An apparatus for blood analysis to determine the rate of corpuscle sedimentation. The apparatus has a first support (1) with several graduated tubes (4) open at both ends and held vertically in spaced relation on the first support. The tubes (4) have enlarged lower ends (4b) which can diverge. A second support (2) has blood sample containers (13) of larger diameter than the vertical tubes on the first support. The containers (13) are spaced apart on the said second support, the same distance as the tubes on the first support so the containers are respectively, vertically below the tubes. Sealing and flow inducing members engage in the diverging lower ends (4b) of the respective tubes. The support means (1, 2) are movable with respect to each other between a first position in which the tubes are vertically above the containers, and a second position in which the lower ends of the tubes are immersed in the containers.

  • Patent number: 4473097
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for receiving and measuring a quantity of fluid from a filling device comprising a container having a substantially flat container bottom for resting on a horizontal surface. The container has a translucent sidewall with markings disposed on the sidewall enabling an operator to determine the quantity of fluid therein by viewing the fluid level in the container relative to the markings. A sealing valve is disposed proximate the container bottom and adapted to receive fluid from the filling device enabling the container to be filled to a desired fluid level from the fluid filling device. A dispensing orifice is in fluid communication with the interior of the container for dispensing fluid therefrom. The apparatus is suitable for metering and mixing different proportions of different fluids prior to dispensing from the dispensing orifice.

  • Patent number: 4462200
Abstract: A device for disposing of a contaminated suction tube connected to a storage container for glass-enclosed radioactive waste material by inserting the tube in the container for ultimate disposal with the container. The device consists of a metal sleeve that is mounted on the bottom wall of the container and extends upwardly into the container and an inner tube which slides in the sleeve. The suction tube is connected to the lower end of the inner tube. Detachable connecting means, such as solder, fixes the inner tube and hence the suction tube to the sleeve until the glass filling operation is over. At this point the solder melts and the suction tube and inner tube are free to be inserted into the container by sliding the inner tube upwardly in the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4406299
Abstract: A liquid level valve for use in filling a liquid storage tank to control (in response to increased air pressure within the liquid level valve) the tank emergency loading valve which is held open by pressurized air.The liquid level valve has an air control cavity connected to the pressurized air and an actuating cavity which exhausts to the atmosphere and is disposed above the air control cavity and connected to it via an actuating passageway. An air control diaphragm divides the air control cavity into upper and lower portions and controls the flow of pressurized air into such lower portion which exhausts to the atmosphere. The air control diaphragm has a small air control passageway (of smaller diameter than the actuating passageway) allowing pressurized air into the air control cavity upper portion, thus permitting the pressurized air to act on both sides of the air control diaphragm.

  • Patent number: 4312373
Abstract: An internal valve for the bottom loading of fuel tanks consists of a differential area piston acting within a chamber which is vented by a pair of pilot valves responsive to fluid level, to provide full open, throttled and closed positions of the valve automatically in response to inlet fluid pressure. Soft closure of the inlet valve which is formed of the piston head and a seat in the valve housing, is provided by metered fluid flow through an orifice between a sized aperture in the piston head and a restrictor sleeve carried on a tank vent actuator bar extending through the aperture and through the valve housing. A lost motion connection between the piston head and actuator bar allows limited relative movement for controlling the metering orifice and combined movement for coincident opening of the tank vent in response either to inlet fluid pressure or manual actuation.
