Manifold Or Divider Patents (Class 141/244)
  • Patent number: 4658870
Abstract: Apparatus for dispensing fluids to a plurality of receptacles simultaneously, equally, and without dripping. A distributing device is used that uses a major-minor channel configuration such that all major channels fill with fluid before the minor channels fill and all minor channels fill before water exits the outlet holes in the bottom of the distributor. A stand is included which supports the fluid to be distributed and which is designed to exactly center common communion trays beneath the distributor for filing. A stretchable transfer tube connects the fluid in the container with the distributor and, when pinched shut, causes fluid to be sucked back up the tube and which in conjunction with the pipette action of the outlet holes prevents drippage after filling.

  • Patent number: 4465150
Abstract: A device for smoothly charging weighed out articles from an automatic weighing apparatus into a container formed of a plurality of contiguous vessels or container sections. The charging device comprises a shutter plate mounted in close proximity to the upper surface of the container, a timing hopper having the shutter plate as a bottom and defining storage compartments in positions corresponding to respective ones of the container sections, and an allocation unit mounted between the timing hopper and a discharge opening of the automatic weighing apparatus. The allocation unit is operative to allocate the articles to respective ones of the storage compartments of the timing hopper once for each weighing operation performed by the automatic weighing apparatus. The shutter plate is opened upon termination of discharge of the articles into each of the storage compartments for introducing the articles into container sections associated with respective ones of the storage compartments.

  • Patent number: 4256152
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for measuring the concentration of gaseous hydrogen dissolved in a liquid substance. The apparatus comprises an electrochemical cell constituted of a polymeric membrane in contact with a sample of the liquid substance and which is permeable to hydrogen, of an electrolyte capable of causing an oxydation reaction of the hydrogen diffused through the polymeric membrane, at a first electrode, and a reduction reaction of an oxygenated gas at a second electrode, so as to deliver an electric current proportional to the hydrogen concentration to be measured. An electrovalve operates, when activated, to exhaust the liquid substance sample at a predetermined instant in the measuring process. Moreover, the circuit amplifies a voltage corresponding to the value of the current proportional to the concentration, which current flows through a load resistance mounted in parallel across the first and second electrodes and the input of the amplifying circuit.

  • Patent number: 4237096
Abstract: The invention relates to a device and a method for carrying out simultaneously multiple analyses in a liquid medium. The device comprises a compartment for introducing liquid, communicating through a distribution channel with separate analysis compartments. Each analysis compartment is provided with valve-forming means, such as a ball, isolating the liquid contained in the analysis compartment from the liquid remaining in the distribution channel. The device is particularly suitable for microbiological analyses.

  • Patent number: 3999691
Abstract: Dispensing apparatus for semi-fluid material includes a housing having a vertical bore and a second bore connecting with this vertical bore. A piston is slidably mounted within said second bore and is movable between a first position spaced from the vertical bore and a second position adjacent to the vertical bore. Fluid pressure is applied through a first channel to a first piston surface to cause the piston to move from a first to the second position. Fluid pressure is applied through a second channel to a second piston surface to cause the piston to move back to the first position from the second position. An input aperture connects the vertical bore in the housing to an interconnecting array of branching channels which are in turn connected through a plurality of apertures to dispensing members. The channels in this array are configured such that the pressure drop between the input aperture to the array and the inputs of each of the dispensing members is equal.
