Bristle Configuration Or Composition Patents (Class 15/207.2)
  • Patent number: 11964363
Abstract: A grinding or polishing brush is provided and includes a main body which is rotatable about a central axis and is provided with bristles which extend with their center axes substantially in the direction of the central axis. In order, with such brushes, to permit pin point working, it is proposed that the center axes of the bristles have an inclination in the circumferential direction and/or inward in the radial direction. The effect which can therefore be achieved with the bristles is that they are supported against one another. In order to improve this, the bristles can be provided in an axial portion with film elements connecting them. The film elements may be able to come apart depending on wear.

  • Patent number: 8918945
Abstract: A toothbrush having needle-shaped bristles on the head portion is configured such that the differences in height between the longer and shorter bristles is 1 to 4 mm, the end points of the longer bristles are 0.01 to 0.03 mm in diameter, the end points of the shorter bristles are 0.03 to 0.08 mm in diameter, the taper lengths of the longer bristles are 4 to 8 mm, the taper lengths of the shorter bristles are 2 to 6 mm, and the differences in taper length between the longer and shorter bristles is 1 to 4 mm. The toothbrush provides superior teeth and gum contact force unique to a toothbrush having needle-shaped bristles and at the same time also provides superior cleaning performance for the surface of teeth thanks to the action of the shorter bristles having relatively large diameters at end points and relatively short taper lengths.

  • Publication number: 20140289983
Abstract: An autonomous coverage robot includes a cleaning assembly having forward roller and rearward rollers counter-rotating with respect to each other. The rollers are arranged to substantially maintain a cross sectional area between the two rollers yet permitting collapsing therebetween as large debris is passed. Each roller includes a resilient elastomer outer tube and a partially air-occupied inner resilient core configured to bias the outer tube to rebound. The core includes a hub and resilient spokes extending between the inner surface of the outer tube and the hub. The spokes suspend the outer tube to float about the hub and transfer torque from the hub to the outer tube while allowing the outer tube to momentarily deform or move offset from the hub during impact with debris larger than the cross sectional area between the two rollers.

Abstract: A roller brush for a cleaning appliance that includes a brush core defining a longitudinal axis of rotation and three or more dual rows of bristles disposed on and equidistantly spaced along a circumference the brush core. Each dual row of bristles includes a first bristle row of a first bristle composition and having a first height and a second bristle row of a second bristle composition stiffer than the first bristle composition and having a second height. The second bristle row is circumferentially spaced from the first bristle row by a gap less than or equal to 10% of the first height. Also, the first height is less than or equal to 90% of the second height.

  • Publication number: 20140259489
Abstract: The hybrid paintbrush is a paintbrush with characteristics ideal for trim work. The hybrid cross-sectional shape creates a narrow trailing edge, resulting in a fine line for working close to corners and other edges. The wide leading edge acts as a storage location for paint due to its large quantity of bristles. The synergistic result is a paintbrush that has the narrow trailing line of a trim brush, but with the paint-carrying capacity of a larger brush. This allows the novice, who lacks the ability to control the large number of bristles in a larger brush, to effectively cut in a room in a short period of time, minimizing the quantity of times he must reload the brush with paint, or wipe off areas unintentionally painted.

Abstract: A twisted wire brush comprises a wire core and at least one length of spring coil. The wire core has a first length, defines a core axis, and comprises at least two core wires intertwined. The core wires twist helically about the core axis. Each length of spring coil extends about at least one of the core wires, and each length of spring coil is pressed between the twisted core wires. In another embodiment, a method of making a twisted wire brush comprises providing at least two core wires, positioning a length of spring coil about each core wire, aligning each length of spring coil, and twisting each core wire about a core axis. In yet another embodiment, a grill brush comprises a handle, a plurality of twisted core wires attached to the handle, and at least one length of spring coil, each length extending about at least one core wire.

  • Patent number: 8789228
Abstract: The invention is directed to a bristle for a toothbrush, said bristle being comprised of a plastic monofilament, with the preferably cloverleaf-shaped bristle body having several longitudinal ribs arranged in star shape and projecting laterally from a core section of the bristle body. The invention is also directed to a brush head for an electric toothbrush having at least one bristle tuft with at least one such bristle as well as to an electric toothbrush having such a brush head. According to the invention, the bristle of the type initially referred to is configured to be self-fanning in such a manner that the cleaning forces acting on the bristles during normal brushing cause the bristle to split open at its free end. As a result, the need to use complex splitting methods and corresponding splitting machines in the manufacture of the toothbrush can be obviated.
