Publication number: 20080313836Abstract: A paint brush (201) is provided. The brush comprises a bristle cluster (207) and a handle (202) for holding the cluster. The root end of the cluster is set into adhesive composition by a set depth X. The cluster comprises bristles of two or more different lengths. For a majority of the bristles the difference in length between a longest bristle and a shortest bristle is a range value Y. Y is less than X which means that one end of all bristles conforming to this rule must be embedded in adhesive composition but not all bristles will extend all the way to the tip end of the cluster. Publication number: 20080313830Abstract: The head of a powered toothbrush includes a first tuft block mounted for rotational oscillation about an axis generally perpendicular to the outer surface of the head, and a second tuft block having fixed bristles or bristles independently movable by being mounted on an elastomeric base. The second tuft block oscillates perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the head and in an in and out direction perpendicular to the outer surface of the head. A third stationary block may also be mounted on the head of the powered toothbrush. The bristles on the first, second, and third tuft blocks may be of various lengths, colors and stiffness, and may be mounted perpendicularly to or at an angle to the outer surface of the head.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 26, 2008Publication date: December 25, 2008Applicant: COLGATE-PALMOLIVEInventors: John J. Publication number: 20080307591Abstract: A brush section for use with an electric toothbrush includes a relatively large brush head portion having a generally rectangular shape, although oblong, elliptical and other such shapes having a length to width aspect ration greater than 1 may be employed. The brush head portion is secured to a shaft portion of the brush section that may be configured to couple to a handle section. The handle section may include an electric drive including drive shaft, and the drive shaft may couple to the brush head via a coupling member positioned within the shaft portion. The electric drive may impart a rotary, oscillating rotary-oscillating or other suitable drive motion to the drive shaft that is, in turn, imparted upon the brush head by virtue of the coupling member.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 31, 2008Publication date: December 18, 2008Applicant: The Gillette CompanyInventors: Mark Edward Farrell, Christopher Charles Blain, Phillip Maurice Braun
