Interfitting Patents (Class 152/308)
  • Patent number: 11724551
Abstract: Segmented tires employ segments featuring cooperating recesses and protrusions at opposing sides thereof for mating of the segments with one another in the assembled tire body. Cleated tires with embedded cleats of greater rigidity than the tire body material provide improved traction in muddy or other slippery conditions while the compressible tire body smooths out the ride harshness of the tire. Mounting elements are also embedded within the segments of the tire body for secure mounting and reliable retention of the segments.

  • Patent number: 5390985
Abstract: A tire comprising a body constructed to deform resiliently under load and a tread provided on the body. The tread comprising a plurality of raised portions (29) disposed in circumferential relationship and defining grooves (49) therebetween. Each raised portion (25) comprising a first central section (27) and a pair of lateral sections (29) each extending outwardly from the central section towards one side of the body. The lateral sections (29) define a V formation and the first central section (27) extends from the V formation in a direction away from the outer ends of the lateral sections (29) and towards the V formation if the next adjacent raised portion. The body may be defined by a plurality of segments (11) individually mountable onto a base.

  • Patent number: 5154490
Abstract: A ground engaging means providing a running surface for wheels, endless tracks and the like, which is not pneumatic in nature, thereby not susceptible to puncture, and which is resiliently flexible to offer some resistance to shock. The ground engaging means comprises a base and a number of removable, hollow, tubular ground engaging elements which extend transversely of the direction of travel of the running surface. Said ground engaging elements include an inner face for engagement to the base and an outer face for contact with the ground surface, and angular shaped side faces between the inner and outer faces allowing for resilient flexibility under normal load conditions. It is preferable that the ground engaging elements are open at their ends to allow for dissipation of heat and are arranged in circumferential rows, defining a chevron pattern, to prevent resultant side thrust imposed upon the running surface.
