The procedure comprises the following steps, namely, placing a first decorative sheet (1) of flexible material on a work surface, applying a first layer of adhesive material (2) on the facing surface of the first decorative sheet (1), placing a structural sheet (3) of malleable semirigid material on the first layer of adhesive material (2), applying a second layer of adhesive material (4) on the facing surface of the layer of moldable semirigid material (3), placing a second decorative sheet (5) of flexible material on the second layer of adhesive material (4) and exerting even pressure on the surface of the sheets for a tight joining together. The composite material comprises a first (1) decorative sheet of flexible material, a structural sheet (3) of malleable semirigid material and a second (5) decorative sheet of flexible material.

Abstract: A composite sandwich structure is produced by providing a core structure, applying cover layers on opposite sides of the core structure, and forming an edge seal. The core structure has a folded cell structure with fold valleys forming continuous open channels with open ends and/or open channel sides at edges of the core structure. The channels extend along and are bounded between the fold valleys and the cover layers. The edge seal is formed to have a limited spatial volume in an edge region at an edge of the core structure, to close and seal open ends and/or open channel sides of the channels of the core, without an uncontrolled penetration of the seal material from the edge region to a greater depth into the open channels.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a shaped polymer device comprises forming a planar polymer layer over a substrate which has a lower coefficient of thermal expansion than the polymer layer; and shaping the polymer layer using a laser ablation process. This method uses a substrate with low thermal expansion to limit the expansion of the attached polymer layer when it is being shaped by a laser ablation process. In addition there is provided a lens structure for an *autostereoscopic display device comprising a substantially planar glass substrate and a polymer layer defining a lenticular arrangement provided over the glass substrate.

Abstract: By using an existing, relatively inexpensive manufacturing device, micropatterns (e.g. guiding grooves, prepits) having such track pitch and pit pitch that are smaller than the diameter of a light spot are formed more finely. There are provided at least two layers, i.e. (i) a resin substrate and (ii) a depressed part inducing layer made of dielectric material or metal oxide. A light beam is radiated and focused onto the depressed part inducing layer so as to form pit parts and/or guiding grooves on irradiated parts of the resin substrate. The depressed part inducing layer is then removed, so as to expose the pit parts and/or guiding grooves.

Abstract: A value or security document (2) contains a security feature (4) in the form of a film laser with an emitter layer (12) and preferably a protective layer (14). A spatial, periodic modulation (8), preferably of the surface of a substrate, permits fine adjustment of a laser wavelength within a range of possible wavelengths. This permits a coding of the security feature by different portions of different wavelengths.

Abstract: Laser induced thermal embossing (LITE) films used to make microreplication tools, liners, and products such as laser induced thermal imaging (LITI) donor films. The LITE tools or liners have a microstructured surface selectively imposed upon them as determined by an area of imaging the LITE films against one or more microreplication tools. An orientation between the laser imaging lines and LITE films can be selected to produce various microreplication patterns on the tools. The LITE tools can be made having a structure on structure pattern including a microstructured pattern with a nanostructured surface. The LITE liners can be combined with other films to form products. The LITE films can also be coated with a transfer layer to form a LITE donor film with a structured transfer layer.
