Abstract: A method of manufacturing an ink jet print head capable of bonding the printing element substrate to the support surface with high precision in a reduced period of time is provided. For this purpose, raised flat portions are formed in the support surface of the supporting member to provide in an adhesive layer between the printing element substrate and the supporting member a portion of the thermosetting adhesive that is thinner than others. After the relative positions of the printing element substrate and the supporting member are adjusted, the thin portions of the adhesive layer are hardened. This enables the printing element substrate to be bonded to the supporting member in a relatively short period of time. As a result, if there are undulations on the support surface, the printing element substrate can be bonded to the supporting member with high precision, improving the mass productivity of the print head.

  • Patent number: 6780273
Abstract: The process for making a picture frame having printed border artwork on a transparent front panel with irregular outer and inner edges and having an attached rear panel having a picture frame folding stand therein. The process includes the printing of border art on a sheet of a material having a covered pressure sensitive adhesive backing and attaching it to the front panel. The front panel is then laser cut along the computer marked cut path to cut along the outside and inside edges of the printed border artwork while cutting a window therein. The cutout window is removed and a thin transparent polymer sheet is attached thereover. A picture frame back is cut with a foldout stand and is attached to the front panel to form the picture frame.

Abstract: A method of rapid prototyping a physical three-dimensional Product that can be preformed on readily available commercial 2D printing devices and paper handling equipment is presented. The method consists of using a 2D printing process to obtain a stack of sheets, each sheet printed with successive cross sectional areas of the desired product with ink (Hardener) that causes the sheet to become resistant to subsequent weakening and removal after the creation of the Brick. The Brick, containing both the positive (printed areas) and negative (unprinted areas), is then subjected to an agent(s) that weakens and removes the unwanted negative regions leaving only the desired Product.

  • Patent number: 6749477
Abstract: A forming method of spacers in a flat panel display is provided. The method includes the steps of preparing a plurality of spacers in a predetermined shape, preparing a substrate on which the spacers are to be attached in the flat panel display, applying a photosensitive adhesive material on an upper surface of the substrate to a predetermined thickness, aligning the spacers on the substrate to attach the spacers by using the photosensitive adhesive material, radiating light onto the substrate from above the substrate to expose portions of the photosensitive adhesive material without the spacers, and removing the exposed portions of the photosensitive adhesive material. Therefore, the spacers are fixed on the substrate by the photosensitive adhesive material located under the spacers. According to the provided method of forming spacers, the spacers are fixed on the substrate by a mounting process using a jig, a temporary exposing process, and a developing process.

Abstract: An FPD encapsulation apparatus at least comprises a chamber and a pressing mechanism. In this case, the chamber has an airtight space to provide a low-pressure environment, and the low-pressure environment is located inside the airtight space. The pressing mechanism is disposed within the chamber, and the pressing mechanism is operated in the low-pressure environment for pressing a second substrate to bind a first substrate and the second substrate. Furthermore, a method for encapsulating an FPD is disclosed. The method comprises providing a first substrate, forming an adhesive on the first substrate, providing a second substrate to align the first substrate and face to the adhesive, providing a low-pressure environment for the first and second substrates, and binding the first and second substrates to form the FPD.

Abstract: A carpet seaming iron includes a platen, a heating element conductively coupled to the platen, and a passageway interposed between the platen and handle. The passageway is configured to accommodate a piece of seaming tape over the platen and under the handle of the seaming iron. The handle is designed to protrude between adjacent pieces of carpet that are to be seamed together. The seaming iron may be used to make a seam using a seaming tape having thermal adhesive on an upper side, by heating the seaming tape from below. Advantageously, a seam may be completed without contact between the thermal adhesive of the seaming tape and the platen of the seaming iron.

  • Patent number: 6627018
Abstract: A system and method for forming a composite structure involves providing at least two polymeric sheets as outer layers such that a cavity is formed therebetween, adhesively bonding fibrous layers to the polymeric layers to hold the fibrous layers in place during processing, and injecting into the cavity a polymeric core material capable of exhibiting a foamed character and a resinous character. The cavity is evacuated during filling with the core material, and a blowing agent of the core material is activated upon exposure to the evacuated cavity. The core material contacting the fibrous layers is reconverted to its resinous character and forms a relative dense, resinous interface between the core and fibrous layers. Upon filling the region of the cavity between the fibrous layers, a catalytic reaction is initiated in the core.
