Including Means To Retain Pintle In Hinge (e.g., Tamper Proof, Nonrising Pintle, Etc,) Patents (Class 16/380)
  • Publication number: 20090007384
Abstract: A hinge with an overridable limiting function is mounted in an electronic device with a cover and a base and has a pintle, a stationary leaf and a rotating assembly. The pintle has a limit. The stationary leaf is mounted securely on the pintle and is mounted securely in the base. The rotating assembly is mounted around the pintle, is mounted securely in the cover and has at least one positive stop. The positive stop has an inside surface and an inner part selectively abutting the limit of the pintle to provide a limiting function. When a person applies excessive force to the cover and over-pivots the cover, the positive stop is bent out and the inside surface of the positive stop slides along the limit. The outward bending of the positive stop absorbs the excessive force to keep the cover from being damaged.

Abstract: In a printer comprising a paper container for containing a recording paper, the paper container has a base member mounted of a housing of the printer and a cover member rotatably pivoted on the base member via a pair of hinge structures. Each hinge structure has at least a first bearing portion formed on the cover member and having a first center hole, at least a second bearing portion formed on the base member and having a second center, a hinge pin inserted into the first center hole of the first bearing portion and the second center hole of the second bearing portion, a first and a second stoppers formed on the base member for facing both ends of the hinge pin with predetermined gaps. The second stopper has elasticity to be deformed when the hinge pin is inserted into the first and second center holes by applying a pressure thereto and to be recovered to a natural shape when the pressure is released so as to prevent escape of the hinge pin from the first and second center holes.

The terminal enclosure (2) includes a base section (30) formed as an open-faced trough with integral perpendicular end panels (24, 34). The terminal enclosure (2) also has a pair of gull-wing doors (10, 20) which may be closed to cover the base section (30). The doors (10, 20) are formed with a curvature to provide a continuous arching cover over the base section (30), and a plurality of legs (12-1 . . . 5, 22-1 . . . 5) is angled downwardly and inwardly from each door for pivotal attachment to the underside of the base section (30). The combined curvature of the legs (12-1 . . . 5, 22-1 . . . 5) and the doors (10, 20) allows opening without a need for frontal clearance. In addition, the legs (12-1 . . . 5, 22-1 . . . 5) are pivoted to the base section (30) in such a way that they may be locked in the full-open position, thereby freeing both hands for servicing.

  • Patent number: 5394913
Abstract: Personal leather goods (PLG's) such as wallets, billfolds, pocket calendars have a portion which is required to bend repeatedly. This bending causes cracking and extreme wear which adversely affects the looks of the item and reduces its useful life. Disclosed is a mechanical hinge which attaches to leather-like panels of such PLG's. The hinge includes a set of interleaving knuckles of relatively soft material which form an axial bore along the length of the hinge, the bore receiving a thin pintle made of a relatively stiff but resilient material. The pintle is shorter than the axial length of the bore and is held into the bore by end caps, either separately applied or integrally formed with the hinge leaf. The leaves of the hinge have an overall curving shape having a concave side and convex side to permit the panels to which the hinges attached to remain parallel when materials are received between them.

Abstract: A gate hinge member is designed for attachment to a metal T-post fence post. The gate hinge comprises at least one pair of first and second L-shaped hinge members, which are secured by means of a U-shaped fastener to the T-post in a tight wedged relationship. The spacing between the hinge members is selected to accommodate a hinge pin, which is passed through a pair of spaced holes in hinge-pin holding plates of the first and second hinge members. The hinge-pin holding plates extend outwardly perpendicular to the T-post. The hinge pin is adapted to be passed through a mating cylindrical hinge member on the gate to pivotally secure the gate in place between the hinge members. After assembly, the hinge pin is releaseably secured in place by means of cotter pins passed through holes adjacent each of the ends of the hinge pin. The gate hinge may be placed in any vertical position on the face of a T-post, and cannot accidently be dismantled.
