Fabric Stretching Patents (Class 160/378)
  • Publication number: 20100206496
Abstract: A stretcher comprises frame sections. The frame sections comprise two extruded profiles (B, D) whereby the outer profile is made of a softer material than the inner profile. The inner, hard profile (D) gives firmness to the stretcher, while the softer profile (B) provides flexibility. The softer profile is fitted with a flexible wall that can hinge around a hinge line. This makes it possible to accommodate variations in canvas tension, while at the same time ensuring a strong stretcher. The frame sections are fitted with adjustment mechanisms-(F, L).

  • Patent number: 6836907
Abstract: A solid mesh swimming pool cover incorporates a mesh layer that has been successfully used as a porous mesh cover for several years with a thin impermeable base layer. A two-step polymer coating process seals the mesh to produce a solid safety swimming pool cover of unusual light weight and durability with an abrasion resistant bottom layer that has a low coefficient of friction to facilitate easy removal. The base layer is a plastic or resin product, such as a co-polymer resin, and the top layer is a mesh pool cover fabric, such as polypropylene. Ultraviolet (UV) inhibitors added to both coating step materials insure an extended service life. Since the mesh used for the centrally located mesh panels in the drain type solid cover of this invention uses the same mesh as the rest of the non-porous cover, it is more aesthetically pleasing since it blends in with the rest of the cover.

Relative positions of the frame members may be adjusted by a cam arrangement to vary tension in the laminar member. The screen assembly can be horizontally attached to a wall to work as a decor wall panel, or vertically attached to a wall as a divider or a poster. When combined with supporting means, the screen assembly can stand on the ground to work as sun blinds or window privacy partitions.

  • Patent number: 6339889
Abstract: A mounting assembly includes an elongated mounting bracket and an elongated retention bracket. The mounting and retention brackets are configured for ridged attachment to the side of a structure, such as by bolts. A coupling channel extends along the length of the mounting bracket and communicates with the exterior through a narrow mouth. The coupling channel is configured to slidably receive and retain the top edge of a display sheet. The retention bracket has a plurality of spaced apart holes transversely extending therethrough. Each hole is configured to receive a corresponding spring. Each spring has a first end configured for attachment to the bottom edge of the display sheet. Once the spring is attached to the display sheet, the second end of the spring is passed through the corresponding hole on the retention bracket. A pin is then secured to the second end of the spring, thereby securing the display sheet between the mounting bracket and the retention bracket under the biased tension of the springs.

  • Patent number: 6331223
Abstract: A frame includes a plurality of screen bar segments. To form the screen bar, a flat malleable strip is provided. The strip is roll-formed to form a tube having a tensioning step on its face. The tensioning step extends along a length of the tube. The tensioning step has a mounting surface, which may be the bottom of the tensioning step. A hot-melt adhesive is applied to the mounting surface. The screen is spread across the frame, so that the screen extends over the mounting surface of each screen bar segment. The screen is secured to the face of the frame with an adhesive at a plurality of positions across a length of the mounting surface of at least one screen bar segment. The adhesive may be a hot melt adhesive. The screen is inserted with a plurality of pins to intermittently suspend the screen in the adhesive across the length of the screen bar segment. An apparatus for securing the screen to the screen bar segment includes a support surface that holds a screen bar segment.

  • Patent number: 6279644
Abstract: A screen bar segment for use in forming a screen and frame assembly in which screen can be adhesively secured to the frame. The screen bar segment includes a tensioning step along one side thereof and adhesive applied along the base of the tensioning step, in an amount to provide a layer having a thickness between about 0.0005 to about 0.250 inches. The adhesive is selected from the group consisting of hot melt adhesives and thermoplastic resins having a heat resistance temperature of not less than about 35° C. and a viscosity of at most about 5000 poise at about 200° C. The screen bar segment can be used in a screen and frame assembly in which screen is adhesively secured to a screen frame. Also disclosed are related methods of making a screen bar and adhesive assembly, adhesively securing screen to screen bar segments of a screen frame and making a screen and frame assembly in which screen is adhesively secured to a screen frame.

Abstract: A mounting for a sheet that has a bead about its periphery includes frame members forming a rectangle with each frame member including mutually parallel multiple engagement surfaces defined on ribs. An elongate retainer includes an elongate flange with an interlocking surface which can selectively interlock with any one of the engagement surfaces on the frame. The frame also has a frame rail having a rail surface that faces away from a retainer rail surface on a rail of the retainer. A tool including pinch rollers squeeze the rail surfaces toward one another to place the sheet material held by the retainer in tension while the interlocking surface is engaged with the appropriate engagement surface.

  • Patent number: 6250002
Abstract: A specially engineered, low protrusion, visually symmetric small footprint system of mounting advertising displays to vehicles, such as trucks, tractor trailers, and vans, providing upward/downward adjustability, ease of frame removal and remounting, and over-center tensioning by means of specially designed rails which are attached to the surface of the vehicle. The rails are reversibly fastened to the surface of the vehicle, and can be easily and repeatedly removed and refastened in a short time. This is effected by sinking threaded screw seats into the wall on which the sign frame is mounted, providing permanent holes into which can be repeatedly screwed into and unscrewed from, the low protrusion screws which hold the sign frame to the wall. The hardware residue, after removal of the frame, is barely visible, with a very small footprint, being simply the protruding rims of the threaded screw seats.
