  • Patent number: 11808077
Abstract: A patio door assembly includes a panel with a glass unit, and a polymer frame including a bottom member with a sill platform. A support beam is coupleable to the bottom member over the sill platform. The support beam defines a first channel between a top surface of the support beam and a platform, defines a second channel between the platform and the sill platform, a slot defined in the platform of the support beam. A structural insert is insertable in an end of the support beam and can be positioned in the support beam such that the structural insert supports a setting block for the glass unit of the panel to facilitate transferring a weight of the panel to the sill platform. The structural insert inhibits deformation of the frame when the patio door assembly is exposed to a high temperature environment (e.g., a desert environment).

  • Patent number: 5642022
Abstract: An aircraft window shade speed control system which allows the coordination of window shade movement speed throughout an aircraft using a single set-point device for each window shade. Each window shade is moved by an electric motor, and its travel is limited by upper and lower limit switches. Voltage is applied to each motor by a motor control module that is relatively insensitive to variations in aircraft electric buss voltage and motor current requirements. A remote operation switch allows the pilot of the aircraft to open or close all window shades in the aircraft simultaneously, and to be assured of their ultimate position by observing only the window nearest his own position.

  • Patent number: 4330021
Abstract: A safety window comprising an inner window including three adjacent inner panels and an outer window including three adjacent outer panels. The outside panes can be washed conveniently and safely from the inside. The inner center panel opens in conjunction with the outer center panel to provide an opening through which an arm can pass for cleaning the outside panes. Sash sections act like bars to eliminate the possibility of falls from the window, and also to prevent entry by burglars or vandals--even when the window is open. For fresh air, the outer center panel opens in conjunction with an inner side panel to provide an opening through which air can pass. The resulting baffled arrangement of panels prevents direct wind drafts and also entry of rain. A screen, or filter, is interposed crosswise between opposing windows. Translucent glass panes may be utilized to adapt the invention for bathroom use.

  • Patent number: 4106239
Abstract: A window frame has one or more latches provided internally of a vent sill for pivotal engagement with a latch strike in the interior of a frame sill and a latch actuator extending outwardly through an opening in the inside face of the vent sill. A spring urges the latch into engagement with the strike with the latch and the actuator being movable in a linear horizontal direction so that a slot in the side of the actuator engages the edges of the opening through which the actuator extends to hold the actuator and the associated latch in a locked or non-pivotable condition. A second embodiment employs a similar pivotal and slidable latch member in a side frame of a horizontally movable vent frame which is pivoted into latching position inside an opening in a fixed vertical meeting rail and is retained in locked or non-pivotable condition by subsequent linear vertical movement of the latch to a restricted slot portion from which it cannot pivot from the locking position.
