  • Patent number: 11634942
Abstract: Certain example embodiments relate to electric, potentially-driven shades usable with insulating glass (IG) units, IG units including such shades, and/or associated methods. In such a unit, a dynamic shade is located between the substrates defining the IG unit, and is movable between retracted and extended positions. The dynamic shade includes on-glass layers including a transparent conductor and an insulator or dielectric film, as well as a shutter. The shutter includes alternating conductive and dielectric layers, supported by one or more resilient polymer-based layers. A first set of electrostatic forces help cause the shutter to extend and remain in an extended position, whereas an electric field can be setup to help encourage the retraction of the shutter from an extended or at least partially extended position.

Abstract: A trip device for a releasable connection between a sliding door/window and an invisible window screen comprises a screen side bar and a window sash frame at which a locking device is arranged for locking the side bar. In use, the window sash frame is pushed or pulled to translate to a window frame, and a controlling device is driven so that the locking device can be connected to the side bar. At this time, with moving the window sash, the window screen coiled in the hollow window frame can be drawn out so as to spread. When the window screen is not needed, the controlling device is driven, and the connection between the locking device and the side bar is released, then the window screen strip will automatically retract to the original state under the action of a screw torsion spring equipped at the reel.

Abstract: The window (1) comprises a frame (2) having a top member (3), a bottom member (4) and two side members (6), and a sash (7) having a top member (8), a bottom member (9) and two side members (10, 11). A screening arrangement (12) is provided in order to cover the ventilating aperture at least partly in the ventilating position. To achieve a discreet screening arrangement having minimum influence on the functioning of the window, the screening arrangement (12) includes at least one screening element (13, 23, 33), which, in a closed position of the window (1), is arranged in a storage position at the interface between frame (2) and sash (7), and in the ventilating position extends between the frame bottom member (4) and the sash bottom member (9), and/or between the frame top member (3) and the sash top member (8).

Abstract: A storm door with a turn-away handle that does not obstruct normal manipulation of the storm door. The storm door permits seasonal changing between a screen or window and routine window cleaning without obstruction by an elongated handle. The storm door incorporates an actuator that has a hub with a free moving internal cam to permit moving an elongated handle from over an opening of the storm door to a position along the frame of the storm door. The method of use includes proving a storm door with a turn-away handle, moving it to a position that does not obstruct a window and screen, and moving it to a position that retracts a live bolt into the storm door.

Abstract: An actuating mechanism (10) is taught that is used for externally operating a mini-blind (20) or a shade (20?) in a sealed double glazed window (22) which includes a window frame (24) with a side opening (26) and a roll box (28) in alignment with the side opening. A blind actuator (34) incorporates a rotatably sealed pulley shaft (38) that interfaces with the roll box on an interior end (40) and a belt pulley (66) on an exterior end (42). The actuator is sealed to the window frame with an O-ring (48) and rotation of the belt pulley causes the blinds to raise, lower and tilt. When the actuator is slideably removed from the window frame the mini-blind cord roll box may be extricated for replacement or repair.

  • Patent number: 6869127
Abstract: A temporary replacement allows a sheet of material to be affixed in place of the glass portion of a vehicle door window. The sheet of material may also be held in place using magnetic strips, that effectively fasten the material to the metal portion of the vehicle door. The material used may be transparent, translucent, or a mesh design, that allows the free flow of air. The temporary replacement window may have a single sheet configuration, or have a bag like configuration. The single sheet configuration is placed on the outer or external side of the vehicle window, with the sheet wrapping around the window frame. An elastic strap, defined around the sheet's peripheral edge restricts the diameter of its opening to a measurement less than the window frame. A bottom elastic strip may be used to hold the bottom of the sheet against the bottom of the window frame. Another configuration uses a bag, having a mouth that is able to allow the insertion of the vehicle window frame.
