Including A Swinging Press Head Patents (Class 164/211)
  • Patent number: 8061406
Abstract: A method to efficiently make flaskless upper and lower molds that are stacked, to efficiently spray a release agent in a closed space, and to promptly place a core. The method includes the steps of holding a match-plate between one pair of cope and drag flasks that are horizontally positioned, each of them having a sand-filling port for supplying molding sand at its side wall, defining upper and lower molding spaces by inserting upper and lower squeeze-plates in respective openings of the pair of cope and drag flasks which openings are opposed to the match-plate, putting the pair of cope and drag flasks and the match-plate in a vertical position, and causing the sand-filling ports to be placed in an upper position, spraying a release agent into the two upper and lower molding spaces, supplying molding sand through the sand-filling ports to the two upper and lower molding spaces, and squeezing the molding sand in the two upper and lower molding spaces.

  • Patent number: 7891404
Abstract: The present invention relates to a moulding machine (1) for producing flaskless moulds. The moulding machine (1) comprises a drag flask (3) and a cope flask (2), a drag squeeze plate (6) associated with said drag flask (3), and a cope squeeze plate (5) inserted in said cope flask (2), all arranged to be rotated between a horizontal and a vertical position and the drag flask (3) and cope flask (2) being arranged to be movable relative towards one another and away from one another. The drag flask (3), the cope flask (2), the drag squeeze plate (6), and the cope squeeze plate (5) are guided in their relative movement by a common set of guide rods (7), whereby the alignment procedure for these components is significantly facilitated.

  • Patent number: 6499531
Abstract: A molding machine for producing flaskless molds is provided with at least a cope flask and a drag flask and a pattern plate therebetween. The pair of flasks is alternatively positioned in a horizontal position in which the produced molds are removed and the pattern plate is inserted and removed, and in a vertical mold-forming position in which the sand is charged and compacted. The cope flask, the drag flask, the first squeeze plate, the second squeeze plate are rotatable in unison.

  • Patent number: 5070928
Abstract: A forming press, such as a foundry squeeze press, includes an axially movable bolster having locking hooks for engaging trunnions on a replaceable forming tool, such as a foundry sand squeeze board, to releasably secure the tool against the bolster and yet permit quick change-over from one forming tool to another to accommodate production of different workparts (e.g., mold copes or drags). The hooks are pivoted by a linear screw device to first positions wherein they are engaged with the trunnions. The hooks have pivot axes offset from the trunnion axes in such a manner as to impart such a component of motion along the bolster axis to the hooks when they are pivoted to the first positions as to tightly clamp the tool against the bolster. The hooks are pivotable by the linear screw device to second positions disengaged from the trunnions to free the forming tool for removal from the bolster.

  • Patent number: 4262730
Abstract: The specification discloses a strike off apparatus for leveling and compacting mounds of sand extending above the upper edges of open-top mold boxes of varying heights carried in succession along a pathway. A pair of pivotally supported rollers extend across the pathway. A sensor determines the height of a sand mound in a mold box before it reaches the rollers. An elevating mechanism responsive to the sensor adjusts the rollers to a height so that they level and compact the sand mound as the mold box is carried thereunder. A control system including electrical and hydraulic circuits is provided for automatically controlling the cyclical operation of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4159733
Abstract: A molding machine has a molding table disposed in a lower machine section, squeeze cylinders disposed at a level above the molding table, squeeze plates movable by the squeeze cylinders in vertical direction into and out of squeezing engagement with a sand mold around a pattern on the molding table, and a rapping device disposed in an upper machine section. An open-topped hollow tubular member is operatively connected to the squeeze cylinders and disposed in telescopic relationship with the bottom of a sand-feeding chute. The squeeze plates are pivotally mounted on the tubular member and pivotally moved by a cylinder to open and close the bottom of the tubular member. The squeeze plates when in the closed position and the tubular member cooperate together to define a sand retaining space and to form a squeeze head which is operable by the squeeze cylinders.

  • Patent number: 4000772
Abstract: The upper part of a casting mold is produced in apparatus which includes a mold table and a mold presser plate between which the casting mold is compressed. A pattern plate is positioned on the mold table and a feed hopper introduces mold forming material into a mold box arranged on the mold table. The feed hopper includes a premolding member which has a location and dimensions generally corresponding with a sink pattern member located on the presser plate in order to form a depression for a sink in the upper part of the mold. A sprue is formed by means extending between the pattern plate and the sink pattern member which includes a compressible spring which is compressed by the sink pattern member when the mold is compressed between the presser plate and the mold table.
