Fluid Pressure Means Reciprocating Or Oscillating Mold Shaping Member Patents (Class 164/212)
  • Patent number: 4503901
Abstract: A squeezing caster comprises a bed which carries a bottom plate, an intermediate carrier member, and two dies. The intermediate carrier member is of the split type. Each of the dies is mounted on a crosspiece and provided with a mechanism which drives it along the intermediate carrier member. The crosspiece is rigidly attached to said mechanism accommodated in a housing which is mounted on the intermediate carrier member. The die driving mechanism comprises a rack and four pushers. On the external surface of each pusher there is a buttress thread meshed with an internal thread of a gear whose outer teeth are meshed with the rack. One of the racks is intended for connection to a rod of a drive cylinder and provided with a link which is kinematically coupled to the other rack. The caster also contains a means for a preliminary advance of one of the dies.

  • Patent number: 4254816
Abstract: An apparatus for fabricating boxless casting mold parts. During a first step the sand is pre-compacted in mold boxes or flasks by means of a pressure or compaction plate of a pressure or compaction device to form a casting mold part. Press or pressure punches are displaceably mounted in the pressure plate. By means of a pressurized fluid medium, introduced into a hollow chamber or space of the pressure or compaction device, the press or pressure punches are activated and, during a second step, cause a post-compaction of the casting mold part. There is thus produced an approximately uniform compaction of the casting mold part. The lower part of the pressure or compaction device is structured as the pressure or compaction plate serving for pre-compaction.

  • Patent number: 4230172
Abstract: A molding apparatus having a pattern plate provided with vent through bores, a mold flask adapted to be placed on the pattern plate, an up-set frame adapted to be carried by the mold flask, a cover plate covering the upper end opening of the up-set frame, a squeeze plate disposed in the cover and movable into the up-set frame, and compressed air supplying means adapted to introduce compressed air into the space in the mold flask. After filling the space in the mold flask with the molding sand, the compressed air is introduced into the space in the mold flask by means of the compressed air supplying means. The air flows through the molding sand toward the vent through bores formed in the pattern plate so that the molding sand particles are packed and consolidated in the area around the vent through bores.

  • Patent number: 4114678
Abstract: In mold forming apparatus wherein molding sand contained in a mold flask is subjected to compressive forces, bracer devices acting in opposed relationship against the mold flasks are provided in order to supprt the sides of the flasks against the forces generated therein during compression of the molding sand. The bracer devices act against structural parts of the molding apparatus or machine which are located to be fixed in position relative to the mold flasks during the compression of the sand and the bracer devices are arranged to consist of bracer bolts which are adapted to be brought into engagement against the sides of the mold flasks by wedge devices sliding relative to the fixed structural parts and actuated preferably by fluid pressure means.

  • Patent number: 4091858
Abstract: An apparatus is provided comprising two independent driving units: a main squeeze cylinder moving flask-and-pattern accessories to a squeeze board and an auxiliary actuating cylinder transferring the pattern along the line of molding. The auxiliary actuating cylinder is built into a pedestal mounted on the main squeeze cylinder piston rod and connected with the pattern by quick-release sectional lock-type clamping means of the hook-slot type enabling a shuttle mechanism carrying the flask-and-pattern accessories to be transferred from station to station. The pedestal is mounted at the compacting station so that is is capable of functioning as a sand jolting mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4077461
Abstract: Apparatus for the production of foundry molds within a mold forming assembly which at least includes a pattern device and a molding box capable of having molding material contained therein is adapted to effect simultaneous free-fall jolting and squeezing of the molds during their production within a molding machine having a press and a jolter table with at least a pair of columns rigidly connecting said press with said jolter table to form a gantry. Conveyor means are provided for reversibly moving the mold forming assembly from a position at which the molding box is put onto the pattern device and filled with molding material to another position within the gantry where the simultaneous free-fall jolting and squeezing is effected. Coupling means are provided for coupling and uncoupling the pattern device with the conveyor means to effect movement of the mold forming assembly to both of the aforementioned operating positions.
